Fletch's excitement over Mirotic was short lived. He is as unprofessional and immature as they come. I guess his family doe$ what it take$ to keep him employed.

we have time to find something in buyouts and we will be fine. our lack of depth at the 5 is a more pressing issue any ways. fletcher is garbage

how excited would everyone (including Fletcher) be if the Pels pulled off the exact same Mirotic trade today at the deadline rather than a week ago?

he thinks he is somebody because his family bought him a spot on a baseball team in college and then bought him a job talking sports.. He is literally a waste of oxygen

prolly more excited, but I think its better that we addressed it last week and tried to give ourselves time to explore more options.

Odds whatever is in buyouts is good enough to make a difference and chooses to join this team over teams that can win a series.

If that's the only move it'd still not be enough.

Well we obviously didn’t have the resources to make a trade for someone like that. So we are kind of stuck with the position we are in.

I'm not optimistic. Bright side is minutes are there.

How much money do we actually haves now to offer a buyout?

Not a whole lot. I think $1.3M below the tax. I actually think Vaughn is going to stick around because we have so little room. I imagine that the $1.3M will be spent on a big.

Yikes. I hope there will be a big that wants a lot of playing time. I know much of what his domestic violence suspension is about, but is Willie Reed worth taking a shot at since he was waived?

I don't know dick about Willie Reed, but it will depend on the buyout market. We will probably offer Okafor another 10 day while we wait and see who becomes available. Hopefully we look to a hungry G-League guy who we can give a Liggins type contract where we can keep him for the minimum next year if he plays well.
I imagine that Solo is going to make his season debut in the very near future too (maybe tomorrow)

Alvin Gentry declined to answer whether the #Pelicans would retain Rashad Vaughn. He did confirm Dante Cunningham was traded.

What players are expected to be bought out that would fit with us?

Anyone know what the prorated vet minimum amount is at this point?

Yeah, being able to give out $1.35 million in a lump sum with the injury exception is only useful if you sign one player, not 2.

After the 2nd year, the veteran minimum is subsidized. So while 29 games of vet minimum costs the Pels $520k, a 10 year player would get $823k, which makes splitting $1.35 million between 2 signings practically pointless. The only situation it would help is signing a guy like Jarret Jack to the minimum and offering a young player like Willie Reed the rest of the tax room. That'd be about $200k-$300k above his minimum.

Right. Technically speaking I think we have enough room under the tax for 2 vet min prorated deals now, but using the DPE and the full $1.3M on 1 player might net us a more impact.
Being able to offer $1.3M is not much, but it's something.
