$3 million. On its own not terrible, but is the remaining $2.5 of the MLE enough to get anyone of consequence?

good question

another good question is why they didn't use the BAE this year as it will basically be worthless next year

I don't think this is true. The minimums aren't rising with the cap either, so it's still the exception that lets you outbid teams with only the minimum to use.

you sure?

why wouldn't the minimums go up with the cap?

No. Not at all.

The rest of the roster is minimums. Maybe a marginal player or a Euro with that 2.5.

Why wouldn't the exceptions? Owners snuck that past the players during CBA negotiations. The CBA FAQ has the minimums listed through 2021, doesn't mention anything about being tied to the cap, and hasn't updated them even as the cap has risen more than originally expected this year and last year. thank you I did not know that
I knew the exceptions were pre ordained but I swear I thought the minimums were scaled to the cap

Decent point on Holiday. Don't know if I agree, but I see the critique.

And, no, I don't think Cole is good enough if Jrue goes down again. But not sure how much you can plan for that though

at some point you have to work assuming your good players will play
I see the critique also but it's probably just for this year

ESPN sources say Kosta Koufos is headed to Sacramento on a four-year deal worth $33 million

For those who wanted Koufos over Asik, with the contracts it's taken to retain other Pels it's now more clear what the choice would have been between if we created cap space.

Asik + Ajinca + Cunningham + Cole

vs. Koufos + $2.7 million Room Exception

I'm glad we didn't make any big waves. Need to see what a healthy roster can do, then like everyone else, take a run at Mr. Durant.

Assuming we sign Cole, do we have enough to take a run at KJ then fill out the rest with multiple vet minimums?

TBW have a nice article on Jeremy Evans...

I wanted KJ McDaniels, but since Hou is gonna keep him, I wouldn't mind signing Evans....

ATL, is he someone we could afford?

If we can afford him, I'd be all for bringing him in.

I still haven't gotten to dig into the hard capping more, but from what MM said we might be done other than minimums. If we use the remainder of the MLE then we couldn't make a significantly lopsided trade this season. If that is a concern for Demps then we're done. Add Cole and minimums.
