Obligatory Kevin Porter Jr. Should We Thread

Looks like Cleveland is looking to trade or release him now. He got arrested for a car crash and possession of a loaded firearm and marijuana this summer. He’s been working through issues related to that and hasn’t played a game yet this year. His final nail in the coffin was when Cleveland moved/used his locker to accommodate Taurean Prince after they acquired him as part of the Kyrie trade and Porter lost his shite on the team in the locker room after their game on Friday.
He had a solid rookie year last year. 10, 3 and 2 on 44%fg and 34% from 3 in 23 mins last year. He is a very natural scorer and create his own shot. Only 6ft 4, but has 6ft 9 wingspan, so could maybe play some minutes at the 3.
Worth tossing a fake 2nd to Cleveland?
This might be another Christian Wood type situation, but this team is starving for talent and depth now. I personally don’t think it would collapse our entire culture to have just 1 guy with questionable character on the roster.

Only trade for him if your getting Larry Nance back

You should know by now that Griffin doesn't play when it comes to character.

We don’t have minutes for him. We need SF/PF players that can shoot.

We would likely have to attach some salary to stay under the tax threshold, not sure who that would need to be.

So.. make a trade for a guy who sounds like a complete fricking nut?
Great thinking!

A talented nut that has 2 years on his rookie deal. I don’t think 1 edgy guy on our team would cause the locker room to collapse. It might help it tbh. The all quality humans strategy rarely works in sports. I’m not advocating that we send a real asset for him or anything lol.

Melli, obviously.
Griff isn't going to do this, but Melli plus a 2nd for Porter would put us in a salary position to make other moves at the deadline.
[Edit: wouldn't work anyway, because we could only send our $3.1 million for Porter, and Melli is making $3.8.]

They may want more than a 2nd for that.

He dropped in the draft bc he was in constant trouble at USC. He’s a culture vulture

Yeah, he was a shithead in college and now the pros. He’s just a head case who is not talented enough for the worry.

Talking to NBA scouts regarding Porter, there are a lot of off court concerns surrounding maturity and decision making … Has had a number of well documaneted incidents including a run in with Coach Andy Enfield, and it’s safe to say that Porter doesn’t have the best reputation for being a mature, team focused guy … Lacks discipline, focus, structure …
