good grief. that Clippers roster might be one of the most complete rosters I've ever seen
Posted on 7/8/19 at 1:27 pm to DeionDeion
Agreed.
They had a very good roster put together for last year’s playoff team and they only lost a few pieces of it while bringing in Kawhi, PG13, etc.
My favorite in the west is still Utah right now but the Clip Show is easily in that top tier with them.

Yeah, I hate to say it, because I was looking forward to a league of parity, but the Clippers have to be the odds on favorites right now. Not quite GS with a healthy Durant, but not that far off either.

I don't see how the Nuggets, Jazz, or Blazers can handle the Clippers. With Kawhi, George, and Beverly, simply getting the ball into the paint is going to be a chore.

They're the favorites but there's not a sense of inevitably like with the Warriors.
Still a long way to go and teams can also change at the deadline.

Trying to match Westbrook’s $38.5m contract is going to be an issue.
Definitely. It's complicated as hell and might drag on into the season. My favorite narrative would be for Russ to now go to Toronto.

I think Minny might be a favorite simply because they have a lot of large short term contracts plus some young talent.
Teague ($19m expiring) plus Dieng ($16m, 2 seasons) plus Josh Okogie ($2.5m rookie deal) plus picks would do it.
I didn’t put Culver in but he would also be a possibility depending on how much Rosas wanted Westbrook.

Jesus, Westbrook and Wiggins on the same squad....WOOF

Another possibility would have been Wiggins in place of Teague or Dieng but I don’t think Minny has enough assets to convince them to make that trade.
The idea is to cut down payroll, not eat a shite contract which is as bad money-wise as Westbrook’s.

Westbrook is the shitty contract.

Compared to Wiggins?
Both contracts suck but Westbrook can at least put up stats.
Wiggins makes his team worse just by being on the floor.

I dont see what the point of that is for OKC. Free up cap space? For what?
I really do think people are about to see what OKC should be. One of the worst teams out there. I mean...from a FA standpoint its up there on the most undesirable locations. And now they will be without any of their absolute lottery of a roster they had to start.
It took a decade but they finally get karma'd for trying to profit off of Katrina.

They’re in the repeater tax right now. Their payroll was about $300m last year after the tax.
Getting down to “only” $120m is a huge fricking win for them.

It will be fricking weird not seeing Westbrook on OKC

Orlando could ahve sent Gordon + Mozgov if they hadn't just waived Mozgov. They could also do Gordon + Fournier and take back Russ and Patterson.

The Suns waived Kyle Korver.
He is expected to sign with the Lakers. Being both a former LeBron teammate and 38 years old, it sounds like a perfect fit for them.

Reporting with @MarcJSpearsESPN : Free agent Marcus Morris -- who committed to a two-year, $20M Spurs deal w/ player option -- is re-considering agreement. Morris is now considering a free agent deal with Knicks, who'll have additional cap space with reworking of Bullock deal.

Surprised Nerlens Noel didn’t find that kind of a deal when he had the Thunder give him time to think about the offer he’d agreed to.
