uh yes, it is

especially when we're a growing, young team WITH a war chest to acquire assets.

The way I understand is we have 3 years of Zion control no matter what.

If the deadline passes and Zion, or whoever, hasn't signed their QO, that doesn't change their restricted free agent status. It only affects them being able to accept the QO.

Basically meaning, if Zion refuses to sign the QO, he only loses the ability to sign the QO, but he still remains a restricted free agent. It would actually be great news for us, as it would lock us into his next deal.

I'm not 100%, but fairly certain that's how it works. But at worst, the Pels have 3 years left with Zion on this team before he could leave as an unrestricted free agent.

That's assume Ingram signs with us again, right?

This is exactly why you build a war chest. To acquire a disgruntled top 5-10 guy. Which is pretty rare that they actually become available.

IF we get Dame our growth is done. That's the end game

I feel like you just want to perpetually kick the can down the road and end up nowhere

As a small market team, I do not think you can wait and pass on it, assuming you can get the next guy.

If Dame is avaiable and we can actually pull off, you gotta do it IMO, even if it means losing BI.

We can't assume we can get the next guy. We don't know when the next dude as good as Dame comes available, a guy THAT good doesn't come available every year. It could be a dude in the last year of his deal or so like AD that has more leverage and we're not on his list. Heck, I'm not even sure we could get him as Dame should have some bit of leverage here,b ut just pointing out, waiting could mean we never even have an opportunity to get a guy like Dame. If it were realistically possible, I think you have to do it.

Agreed completely. Superstars win you titles. Dame is super fricking clutch too.

The last superstar to get traded was Kawhi and look how that ended. You could argue AD too. Both got titles for their new team.

BI is not one now and will never be a superstar. Is supremely tradeable. Shoots about 5% in clutch minutes. Hideous.

Make the trade Griff

Not an old one, though

No I'm all for unloading it for SGA, Mitchell, KAT, Beal, etc. Beal is about the outer limit, though, age-wise

I disagree that 30 is old. It's smack bang prime if you ask me

again, there simply aren't many example of smaller scoring guards lasting into their early 30s. a few of the exceptions have been listed and discussed in this thread, but there aren't that many

when they fall off, it's like a RB. sudden and hard.

We can win a title within 2 years with Dame and Zion

Is that not good enough for you?

Do you need a guarantee we'll win the title in 2028?

Also, Westbrook has had an outstanding year this year. He's been a chucker all his life, whereas Dame has been clutch his whole life.

I really don't think you have any idea what you're talking about

Dame is infinitely closer to Steph than he is to RWB

there seems to be this very emotional and borderline irrational dislike of Ingram

there also seems to be a large overlap in posters suffering that issue who also find it easy to deal BI for Dame

Well, the 2nd part shouldn't be surprising. Those folks who dislike Ingram would obviously be more apt to moving him for Dame.

I personally think BI is a legit good dude that plays great ball. He really is baby KD on offense imo. I just don't know if he can ever be even average on defense, and at his position that's a death sentence for most teams.

You also have a huge glaring need at pg so getting Dame is a crazy good way to fill that need hahaha

I love that people keep touting this, but his playoff shooting is atrocious overall. career 41.2/36.9/88.7.

outside of this year (46.3%), dude shot 40.6%, 41.8%, 35.2% the last 3 years.

Yeah he makes a clutch shot at the end, but he's inefficient the other 90% of the game.

Pretty sure taking the QO makes you unrestricted the next offseason and free to sign anywhere, that’s the “upside” in doing it.

I don't understand how someone could say yeah let's pass on dame.

Has a killer instinct, something we can't say about Ingram.
Dame and zion in pick and roll would be money.

Vets would come here to play with dame and Zion.
