Let's say the Pels do it right and start from scratch this offseason: Before trading AD, they find a new GM, who finds a new coach. Who would your ideal combo be?

Here is mine:

Dan Tolzman, GM -- Young, smart guy who is the Raps Director of Player Personnel and Assistant GM. He then hires a guy he has worked with for a few years.....

Jerry Stackhouse, Head Coach - Again, young and hungry. Can relate to players and is very aware how to coach the modern game. Demands toughness and effort.

Who y'all got?

GM: Sam Hinkie

Coach: Calipri would be my first choice, but I know he will be too expensive, but give me anyone that demands better from his players that the shitshow Alvin is demanding

Cal would want to be President and Coach and that's why he wasn't considered last time

Can we start with a new POBO instead? Let him pick the GM then let them pick the new coach?

If that's what it takes, then do it.. At least then you know you should be able to recruit talent here, even being in a small market.

Hire a President of Basketball Ops whose sole focus is the Pelicans and doesn’t even know the Saints exist.

Tolzman is a guy that’s been on my radar. I like him as GM. Raptors are a model we can follow.

Don’t know enough about Stackhouse as a Coach to comment.

I think David Wesley could be a good coach. And he knows the team extremely well already

Stackhouse will get a head coaching gig soon. They’ve been talking about him for 2 years now as someone who is working his way up to a nba head coaching gig, and actually doing it the right way as opposed to Fisher and Kidd.
I like that idea crewz.

I’m not even going to pretend I could come up with better candidates lately, but I’d prefer it to be fresh faces with a positive reputation in the league. Those both fit that criteria, so your suggestions sound good to me. I hadn’t thought replacements would be necessary going into this offseason, and the coaches who got fired that would have been excellent hires already got a new gig.

I would honestly give Finch a chance before I go on a new search for HC. Calipari might be the only way to keep AD. Joe Dumars should've had the GM job a long time ago.

AD stays with Cal as coach. But that ship has sailed probably

GM: The obvious name is Sam Hinkie. Of course I have no clue if he's interested. I'd definitely be willing to offer him as a president of basketball operations to land him.

He may be slightly overrated because he didn't really do anything revolutionary just was more blatant about it, but value wise he rarely lost a trade which would be nice. The only thing I'd be concerned with would be that there seem to be less dumb teams to take advantage of around the leauge. Would his strategy be as successful with the way the leauge has evolved?

The pro would be he's a big name that may keep more fans interested in the rebuild than a lesser known candidate.

After him I don't really know I just hope ownership is willing to be patient and not try to take shortcuts in building the roster.

Coach should be picked by the GM/president.

This is the only realistic response to the OP. Does anyone in the c-suite on Airline know the Pels started playing in October?

I am fine with Finch if the new President and GM interview a bunch of people and he wins out.

This has to be done the right way. Not the quick way
