I'd prefer to see if Richards is a good fit this year, and if so, then don't resign JV, and go sign Dario Saric or someone else that can shoot and get another minimum backup like Zeller.
We'd have more than enough room to do that this offseason and stay under the tax, $20M to sign 4 players to get it to 14 on the roster. Give Naji $7M and Saric $7M, sign 2 minimum players.

Wow, it felt like he was an a-hole, but it's pretty wild that he got fired while they were second in the conference and only half way through his first season.

They’re also 22nd on defense and 27th this month. This probably had a lot to do with it too.

Trading Jrue for Dame had more to do with that. Their starting backcourt is dame and malik beasley. Not to mention Middleton is washed on the defensive end

Did Giannis fall out of love with him or is this a David Blatt situation to where things changed so much between him being hired and the season starting that he was no longer a good fit?
Blaming the defense on him is crap considering they lost Jrue while bringing in Dames.
That’s like going from Ben Wallace to Bend Over defensively.

Agreed there was going to be a drop off without Jrue but no team with Giannis and Brook Lopez should be 22nd either. They’re some coaching faults at play here as well. According to some comments Giannis has made after games, seems like there was no set philosophy on defense.

They just have much higher standards than most teams. They’re looking to win the championship not lose in the second round. If you watch them, they should be better than what they’re showing. That being said- Doc Rivers is not the answer.

The firing was right. The hiring is wrong. I’m not sure but I wouldn’t hire Doc. Dude has flamed out constantly in playoffs.
Griffin is a mess. Doesn’t have great relationship with players. Players questioning his coaching abilities. At the end of the day, if Giannis wants you out. You’re gone.

True. But partway through the first season while having a top record in the league? Not a good look and certainly not a good change if you are bringing in Doc fricking Rivers.

Oh I agree its a bad look and obviously not even sure if they get better. The thing is their expectations are sky high this season and so is Giannis. I think when Giannis signed that extension he basically controls that franchise.

Much like Durant and Kyrie in Brooklyn, I’m pretty sure Giannis hand picked their coach this past offseason.

You don't fire a first year head coach that has his team in second place in the conference because of defensive rankings this month
