am not out on Kira as he has an attribute that no one else on the team really has (elite speed). In my opinion, his comp is Tony Parker, who like Kira came into the league at an extremely young age and did not come in to his own until his 2nd and 3rd year. Likely Kira is also going to come in to his own on another team as Jose has displayed a defensive tenacity, similar to Herb, that is infectious.

I’m still amazed that people still have hope in Kira. This dude never will be anything. Lol

Davis went from being in the mix for #1 overall in the middle of the college season to dropping to 10 at the draft because of concerns about his game translating.

And those concerns appear well founded as of this second.

Kira may become something but it likely isn’t happening here unless he makes a major step up this season.

Problem is that we really aren’t in a position to dick around with someone near the end of their rookie deal who isn’t developing fast enough.

I know the mantra is "don't overreact to Summer League" but it's hard to look at a guy like Davis and how much he's struggling and not react to it a little bit. 8 pts a night on sub 30% from the field. Averages more turnovers than assists as well.

The light may come on for him at some point but I think his confidence is shattered for the time being.

Pro Basketball Talk has an article up on standouts at Summer League, which were categorized into “too good to be here” and “top prospects”.

Trey made the list for “too good to be here” and they project him to be putting up good numbers for us this season.

Edit -

5. Trey Murphy III (New Orleans Pelicans)

The Pelicans will have plenty of firepower next season (especially if Zion Williamson is healthy), but Trey Murphy is going to demand minutes and touches if his play in Sin City is any indication. He has averaged 26.5 points and seven rebounds a game, and his shot creation skills have been impressive. He’s more than just a shooter.

Butler 9/9 from the field, 6/6 from 3 with 3 minutes left. Wish his teammates would look for him more. I’d love to hold on to him and bulk his arse up

Is Butler a free agent, or do we have dibs on signing him to the Squadron?

The answer is both, sort of. Butler is on an exhibit 10 contract which means he gets a $50k bonus for signing with the Squadron. If someone offers him a 2 way, which isn’t likely, he’s probably gone. But if he’s going to the GLeague it will be with the Squadron.

That doesn’t really give the Pels any dibs on him though. They’d need to put him on a 2 way to secure him from other teams. But he wasn’t close to our top summer league player, so I can’t imagine a team going after him with a 2 way.

I could easily see him getting a two way.

He's only 19, far from a finished product. Aren't that many human beings on earth 7ft tall that can shoot like him.

Upside is significantly larger than a guy like Plowden who is 23.

After today Butler is top priority in giving a 2 way.

Is he on an exhibit 10? I had not seen that.

1) I'm really not that worried about another team going after him. If he was such a great prospect someone would have already given him a 2 way.

2) This isn't March Madness, it's Summer League. One really good game at the point in Summer League where all of the NBA players have stopped playing isn't going to change anyone's mind on him.

He essentially had a good GLeague game. Players have big games in GLeague all the time and don't get immediately offered 2 ways by other teams after it.

Not even close? I may agree that he was not our top SL player, but not sure about the "not close" part given his limited playing time. Given his age, he may be pretty close to the top as far as potential.

I hope someone does not sign him to a 2-way, but impressing in the SL most certainly does lead to players getting 2-way deals. It is kind of odd to write that off just because he did not get one before the summer league. He is ultra raw, but someone could take a chance on him. I hope he ends up with the Squadron and works on his body.

Not sure that happens. We have Seabron on one already. The other is likely to go to Liddell initially.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but I just don't think it's likely. Butler didn't show any new abilities or skills, I just think if teams thought he was worthy of a 2 way he'd already be on one.

Also, regarding Exhibit 10, I haven't seen details of his contract, but you're allowed 6 Exhibit 10s at any one time so I don't see why it wouldn't be.

I didn't watch every game but I was not impressed with what I saw of Seabron. It looks like he's going to need a better handle to attack the basket successfully like he did in college. If Butler did get a 2 way offer and asked the Pels to cut him or match, I'd have no problem dropping Seabron to keep Butler.

Also, looking a bit more at Exhibit 10 contracts, I don't think another team could "steal" Butler. They are minimum contracts that can be converted to 2 way deals as long as it's done before the start of the season. That would mean team control until the team cuts the player.

quote:

An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum salary NBA contract with a specific Exhibit 10 attachment built into it and no other bonuses.

Oh I didn't know we signed Seabron to a 2 way, well let's hope no one else signs Butler to a 2 way.
