Defensively, Jrue is vastly superior. Vasquez gets to guard the weakest perimeter player on the opposing team and has a freak shot changer behind him in AD and 7 footer in Lopez.

That Lavoy Allen sure does strike fear in the hearts of would be penetrators......

Without the defense or the consistency creating/setting up his teammates. So in other words, He's not like Paul.

Referring to his potential alone.

Jrue Holiday is going to be a top 5 point guard in a year or two, if he isn't already.

Vasquez is a very solid PG, but has probably just about hit his ceiling in the NBA.

Totally my opinion, but what more do you want from him? Unless he develops a totally deadly 15 foot jump shot, what else can you really ask for offensively.

He has a great floater, a consistent 3 pointer, and passes well. Other than a consistent jumper, there's not much else he could improve. He'll never be athletic enough to really create his own shot like the really elite PGs can.

In the end, it's his defense and physical limitations with his speed that hold him back from really being an elite PG. His D might get better, but you can't teach speed, and he just doesn't have it. He can't really beat most fast guards off the dribble.

And Holiday is what, like 4 years younger?

if he continues improving these things, he can get a lot better. He's improved drastically at shooting in a small amount of time.

not all elite PGs are elite at creating their own shot

Ok, well name one that isn't.

Westbrook? Yep
Paul? Yep
Rose? Yep
Parker? Yep
Rondo? Yep, but his jump shot sucks
Curry? Yep
Irving? Yep

I'm not saying you don't have to be able to create your own shot to be very good, but you do in order to be "elite"

9. Jrue Holiday
this alone discredited that entire article. Jrue is easy top 5.

Paul
Westbrook
Rondo
Irving
Jrue

Maybe add Parker infront of him but that is a stretch

This ranking is about this year correct? If it isn't, then Vasquez shouldn't even be top 25

The article actually has him at 7.

1 Paul
2 Westbrook
3 Rondo
4 Parker
5 Curry
6 Irving
7 Holiday

I think Curry should be 7 with Irving and Holiday at 5 & 6 respectively.

They have

8 Williams
9 Lillard
10 Jennings
11 Fleton
12 Gravy

BR;DR

i figured it was about in general, not just this year.

if this year, then yeah, he's probably top 5

Neither should Holiday by that measure. Both of them have gone from fringe starters to borderline top 10 PGs, but I think some are applying a double standard to say that Holiday is top 5 but Vasquez is not top 10. I do think Holiday is the better player, but based on how they are performing this year (and moreso recently), Holiday isn't leaps and bounds better.

Holiday's youth definitely implies more upside, but you never know. Some players peak younger than others. That said, he should have more left in his tank. However, because he uses his size and craftiness more than pure speed, Vasquez could possibly extend his career.
