Roles matter though. Those 3 years you're talking about they kind of built the team around the idea that BI and Zion would be enough combined play making and it wasn't. Assuming Zion stays in shape, which is a big assumption, with Zion and Murray BI won't need to be a primary creator.

We heard last week that BI and his agent were starting to look into trades. They are going to hear the same thing Griff is hearing. The league disagrees with Brandon on who he thinks he is as a player. If they can't find a trade, I would imagine BI and Griff are going to have a discussion about his role and what he needs to do to either succeed here or become attractive enough to succeed elsewhere.

You keep acting like nothing is going to change when very significant things have changed. On top of everything listed above, Willie has a legitimate alternative as lead play maker to both BI and Zion. It's no longer Willie choosing between the guy that does the right things vs. the guy that can play the best after taking half the season to get into shape. Also, unless he gets another secret extension, I would imagine Willie will be on the hot seat and can't afford to play favorites.

You think we’re better than the nuggets? Does dejounte put us over a healthy grizz rockets and lakers teams which we struggled with last year? Wolves are better than us and its not a debate.

People here are realistic not just hyping up their team. Its a fan forum not a cheerleader squad.

You're being a pessimist, as usual.

The Pels added a very good player to a team that won 49 games last year with zion being out of shape for most of it. If the Pels are healthy just like all the other teams they'll be in the running for a top 4 seed.

By the way your hypothetical is unrealistic, teams get injured. No way all of those teams stay healthy.

Are you really going to complain about Jose's minutes? Really?

No one is complaining but Willie actively played him over Hawkins due to his defense. With all these guys that will likely happen again. You’re really not understanding how minutes allocation will work. So to say Hawkins will get more minutes with all these wing players is really not true.

Absolutely so do we. Are you just assuming all our guys will just stay healthy while the rest of the top teams have injuries?

So you know there will be a variable which none of us can accurately predict (injuries) and still choose to believe that we will be beneath those teams, even though we won 49 games last year and added a good player.

You’re hyping up a team with the worst center situation in the league against west teams that all have formidable big men. We finished 8th in the west, lost a good bit of defenders and our big men depth, signed dejounte and now we’re a top 3 team in the west? Come on man.

Willie does not like playing 2 small guards together. I think the only exception might have been Jose and CJ because he thinks Jose can hold his own defensively. I have no clue what lineups and rotations will look like, but I bet they could group Jose/CJ/BI to one bench unit and Murray/Hawkins/Zion to another. Sprinkle in Herb/Trey/Centers depending on the matchups and situation.

And you’re choosing to ignore we lost all our big men and 2 solid to good defenders. Our only significant addition was Dejounte. Yes hes really good but that doesn’t solve our center situation and catapult us to the top of the west. If you honestly believe this is a top 3 or 4 team in the west. I’ll let you enjoy the offseason.

We won 49 games last year because of that beautiful Lithuanian SOB ... and we lost every other game because of Larry Nance

Yes. They got worse this off-season.

Oh ok. So they wont beat us to a pulp with Jokic at center.

Nope. Are they better than last season? I don't think so, while we got a lot better.

Adding dejounte and having no centers does not make us better than the wolves.

Murray is a good defender and the offseason isn't over.

Why do you think we aren't going to add a center? Yves and Karlo and Theis aren't a murderers row, but can one or some of them do 70% of what Nance does? Sure.

If you think the team isn't done then i really don't know why you're complaining. Murray is going to be really good here. Z looks good, CJ, Trey, Herb, all really good players that know each other. We're gonna ball out next year.

I never said they’re not done and I do believe something eventually will get done in regards to the center position. I even stated this before. I truly believe BI will be traded.

But for people to act like this CURRENT iteration of the team is a top 3 team in the west- isn’t logical or realistic. Thats what the previous poster is arguing and bashing people for thinking otherwise. My complaint is towards posters who act like talking about current state of the pels is somehow bashing the pelicans. When its just being realistic.

Jazz summer league game starting on ESPN. They have Walker Kessler playing in it. Kinda weird.

It's him vs Edey so it's a rare interesting summer league matchup

No. They can’t.
And I’ll believe we will pay the tax when it actually happens.
They keep BI, they are paying the tax this season, assuming no mid season dump trade.

And dumping someone to avoid the tax is a good way to lose the rest of the team, just like when they tried to move Tyson Chandler.

Kind of feel like he might not be available at all if they are letting him play. Very strange move. I guess we should hope he plays terribly, so that Utah wants to send us Kessler, salary, and a few
Firsts for BI.

Putting Kessler in summer league is saying that he sucks. It's a message to him that he needs to improve his screen setting and passing.

It's also the recipe for a disgruntled player.

Pretty much all that needs to be said.
