Per the CBA players cannot be paid more than 51% of league revenue. Total salaries in the NBA last season were $317 million above that 51%, so the players have to give that money back.

A portion of player salaries goes into an escrow account for this very purpose.

So basically every player in the NBA loses 5.5% of their salary, even the minimum salary guys. As an example last year Zion’s salary was expected to be $39,446,090, but that’s now $37,276,555.

It's too damn bad Zion's number isn't going from $25M to $23.5M. instead, we let him play LA Fitness level intensity ball to get another 15M and ruin our salary cap situation.

Politics? Whatever. If you can’t separate the art from the artist, that’s on you and your shaky convictions to figure out.

The real problem is that the product that is on the court is not as fun to watch as it was even a mere 7-10 years ago. The regular season is close to MLB levels of boring load management while the league figures out what teams are good enough to compete when the conference semis start and they actually start trying to win.

I don't know why but I was under the impression Zion's salary was closer to 30 mil and not 40.

Paying him 40 mil is kinda nuts.
