i hope Young gets a shot. rooting for the guy. but if they aren't going to move Ajinca or Asik, i don't get why they would take a 6th roster spot for a big man.

ideally, i would only carry 3, maybe 4, bigs. there's only about 25 minutes a night to play and they will have, hopefully, 2 max guys at the 4/5- if you have to spend on a 3rd big, then you shouldn't be paying Davis or Cousins a max. if Davis/Cousins gets hurt, the team is fricked.

I really like Antonio Blakeney. He's got great athleticism and the physical tools to translate. Just needs help putting them together. First LSU guy I really like in the 2nd since MT5.

This dude is guaranteed All-Star within next 3 years. If Pels want to secure a future franchise PG, Demps needs to give a view.

Yeah but if you're called up for more than 45 days you get a regular contract and roster spot. I do think Axel Toupane was brought in to audition for a 2 way contract but you aren't going to get Young or really anyone out of Europe for a 2 way.

I forgot all about him but I'll be glad to have him back. Big monster Ben Wallace. Him, Davis, Cousins, and Diablo (hopefully Ajinca and Asik are both gone) and that's a nice stable of bigs.

Does he? Watching him at LSU, his athleticism never impressed me. He's pretty fluid and has good elevation on his jumper, but you won't find many highlights of him throwing down in the lane. He's more likely to throw up a floater than try to dunk.

He's also a SG in a PG's body.

right. forgot about that. w/o knowing all the specifics for those deals, if i'm the Pels, i'd still rather take some swings on wing/backcourt players than a more traditional big man.

i'm agnostic on NCAA guys. i just dont watch enough to have anything more than a complete bullshite opinion. but guys with tools/skills on the perimeter are the ones i'd be looking at. and a couple of projects shouldn't scare them. they don't have the cap space or the draft picks to build up depth.

There's more to athleticism than vertical jump. Regardless, I just went looking for a draft report on him and DX.com had one:

TL:DR- Athlete with good tools and a terrible basketball IQ along with questionable work ethic. Under CJJ, the latter two things should shock no one.

If OG Anunoby slips, you thank the injury gods, and then you quickly snatch him up and run. That's a first-round talent who fills a team need, the perfect scenario.

Semi Ojelye IMO is the sleeper of the draft. I'll be estatic if we get him at 40. I have a top 20 grade on him.
I think the NBA has a much higher opinion of him than the average fan like you or me. I want him to be there for us. But yeah. If we don't make a trade or something, buy a pick. I don't see us having a chance.

Top 20 might be too conservative. He could be a late lottery guy.

I didn't see anywhere who gave him a late lottery grade. Is dude killing it in workouts that much?

What's your guys take on Peter Jok, and moving up to take Juwan Evans?

Frankly, his vertical is probably his best measurable, hence the bounce on his jumper. I watched all but a handful of games he played in college and I generally like the guy. He doesn't have "great" athleticism among NBA prospects. He has a wet jumper and solid touch on floaters, though. Both of those are useful tools in today's NBA.

That said, he didn't get a combine invite, which says something about how execs view him. He may sneak into the mid to late second round, but he's more likely an UDFA and summer league invite. If that comes on our summer league roster, awesome.

I was replying to your alter, which specifically talked about how he lacked athleticism above the rim. You're not even consistent. This is a thread on 2nd round projects...in the NBA draft. Can do worse than a guy who's very obviously not been coached up with potential pro-level skills and measurables.

All Of The 76ers Second Rounders

Sixers president Bryan Colangelo has made it pretty clear that all of his second round picks could be had and that message seems to be resonating in NBA circles. The problem for the Sixers is they don’t need the cash that typically changes hands with deals involving second round picks, so what do they get in return?

The Sixers still have usable cap space, so they can still take on salary around the draft. The Sixers will also have ample space when free agency opens, so they can always draft a player for another team and trade that player’s rights in July, as well.

What’s becoming clear as the draft process plays out is that the Sixers don’t want four more young guys on the roster, and given how much they have stashed elsewhere, they look ready to make a deal or three.

LINK

The Sixers have picks 36, 39, 46, and 50 in the 2nd round. Demps has dealt a lot with both the Sixers and Colangelo, so if they do pick up another 2nd rounder a deal with Philly would make sense. Cook for a 2nd?

I can't imagine he has any real value. Maybe Frazier for a 2nd though. He is a vet with a small contract, but only 1 year left.

Roc Nation's only draftees are Josh Hart and Dwayne Bacon who worked out. Rudy Gay was also out there shooting and dunking.

Demps might go for the networking as much as the potential draftees. Boston, Minny, Sixers, Nets, Suns and Hornets are all teams we've kicked around as potential trade partners with pieces we should be interested in.

so if they don't want cash and they don't want rookies I'm not sure what they get back for a second round pick that helps them. if they are trying to sell cap space then they would be getting picks back, not sending them out

I don't understand that article at all
