Hart is the better rebounder which we need. But everything else, I'd say is relatively even.

Defense, playmaking, driving to the hoop, shooting (not a strength for either). Both are dogs and immensely good teammates.

For the price, I think Naji is the dude. Griff was right when he said we had Hart at 1/10 the cost on the roster.

Naji, IMO, has become at worst, our second most important bench player. Jose and Naji are the dudes. I trust them way more than Trey at this point.

Naji is older so it will be interesting to see if he continues to improve or if this is his peak.

I think roster wise, it's becoming clear that somebody out of Herb, Naji, Dyson is going to be the odd man out and we need a shooter.

I love Herb, but they're not giving up on Dyson, so when contract time comes, it might be choosing between Naji and Herb.

Naji, as AD says, is really our only other downhill player. But how much value does he bring to a fully healthy roster vs. Herb.

Griff has his work cut out sorting all this out.

Naji, strictly because of contract.

Which will be increasing next season and he's playing well enough to get near MLE money I think. That's a good thing though. After Hart left Naji was not able to immediately step up like we had hoped and it was a bit disappointing. But he's gotten there and is now the 80%-90% of Hart we needed.

Per 36 Naji is 15/5/3.5 this year and his last half season as a Pel Hart was 14.4/8.3/4.4. Rebounding and playmaking is the main difference, but I think Naji "Magic Johnson" Marshall will get those assist numbers up now that he's starting to feel himself as a playmaker.

if we are going practical contract consideration lets address the fact Hart is on another team because "we" knew hart was getting a decent contract and by golly we got oft injured Nance in the multi deal. nance is a nice pf and our pnr answer small 5.

Next year is wear the rubber meets the road for us.

Guys that aren't getting paid now are going to start getting paid.

There's no way we can pay Naji MLE money, and also pay guys like Jose and Herb.

Naji is both BI and Zion's backup. I don't see anyway they will let him walk as he's security for their injuries.

Pels 100% healthy in crunch time right now my 5 would be

CJ
B.I.
Naji
Zion
Then Larry or JV depending on the matchup

frick shooting I need 5 dogs out there and we got 6 imo

Depending on matchup, with that line up, you need to sub Herb in for Naji I think. He flourishes with our normal starting 5 and his defense is absolutely crucial against the other teams star shooter.

The one thing I can say that is good for us is that I don't think Herb gets overpaid now. He just hasn't been particularly good this year on offense (downright bad at times), and Dyson can do what he does on Defense.

I don't think Naji is going to play hardball, he seemed super happy about securing his near minimum deal when he got it, Jose is his best bud, he's part of BI's posse, and he's Zion's enforcer. He will not find a better role on another team. Being an RFA will really keep him from playing the market at all unless going out and getting no offers is Griff's strategy to low ball him. So he shouldn't get anything more than the $4-$6 million range.

However, if he were a UFA on the open market, I think he'd be in the MLE ballpark of at least $8-$10 million.

I can see us giving Naji somewhere in the 4 year 24-30 million range and he would be very happy with that.

If their play remains the same, I can see Herb and Jose in that range also, which I would be more than happy as a team paying to those guys.

One thing in Naji's favor as well is the dude is a rock.

He rarely misses a game. He's kind of a throwback.

With the fragile arse dudes we have on this team, we need a dude who is always available.

Even Hart missed a bunch of time with ankles, etc. Naji is old school durable.

Naji/Jose/Herb/Trey/Dyson

My guess is probably 3 of those 5 will not be on this team at the start of the season in 2025.

Only caveat to that is if BI actually leaves. I wouldn't expect that, but just pointing out if he did not resign, then that would be an avenue to keep more of those dudes if they're playing well.

This would be stupid of BI so it's not happening, but what if BI signed an extension before the cap spike? He'd be making $30 something instead of $50ish so I can't see why he wouldn't wait a few years and bet on himself, but if you somehow convince him to take an extension, you'd have both stars on pre cap spike contracts after 2025. That would change the math a lot.

If BI thinks this is where he can win a title, it's not crazy. I think most star players that never got a title would gladly trade 20%-30% of their earnings for a ring.

Only way I see BI leaving is if he really hates Point Zion

That's not what I'm getting at at all. BI can extend his current contract as soon as this offseason, but that would mean his extension would be based on the current numbers and he'd getting paid in the mid to upper $30s. Or he could wait to become a free agent in 2025, after the cap spike from the next TV deal, when the 30% max will go from mid $30s to $50ish.

Ingram would be guaranteeing money earlier and it would let the team build better around him, but in doing so he'd be postponing a $15 million a year raise by about 2 years.

I've been Naji over Hart all along. It would be hard not to like Josh but when you do a pros and cons list, the contract was a make or break for me. We got Naji on a great contract. I dont think Josh is over payed but Naji is a steal. If Josh would have improved on his 3pt shooting it might have been a little different. I can live with Naji not being as good of a rebounder, he is a better defender overall.
