Kenny Atkinson interviewed for the Houston #Rockets head coach position this week, league sources tell me and @KellyIkoNBA

Rockets have now interviewed or scheduled to interview, to my knowledge: Atkinson, Lue, Unseld, Lucas, Vanterpool.

The only person the Pelicans have been confirmed to have interviewed is Lue.

Either we are the best team in the league at keeping things close to the vest or Griffin has all of his eggs in one basket.

Yup. It will be interesting to find out which is the case, and it will leak eventually.

If its that we interviewed a few people formally and Lue was just our guy, that's fine.

If he is the only guy we interview, and then he is hired (or he takes another job and we have to start interviewing), I will be super pissed and not happy with Griffin at all.

I sure hope it works out because I don’t want to end up with Jason Kidd.

Both can be true. Also, I'd be very surprised if they haven't interviewed multiple people. Even if Lue is the hands down favorite, the other interviews let you sort out the fall back candidates and gather intelligence on your team and on the candidate for the future.

I agree with this, but there's also a difference between interviewing a few guys via Zoom for vetting purposes, and actually sitting down with a few guys for long, formal interviews. Hopefully we have done the latter with a few people, we just haven't heard about it.

We still never truly know why Zion left the bubble, and likely never will, so yes this is definitely the case as if he were on any other team everyone would've known the second he stepped out.

There's no doubt that TMZ would have all the details if Zion were in New York or Los Angeles. I'm glad that I don't know. I wonder how many people in the organization actually do.

What are some of the moves he’s made as a gm that give him such high credentials throughout the league? I’m not knocking just wondering because I’ve never followed his career outside Lebron. What are griffins strengths and weaknesses

I have not heard any talk of him even being rumored to interview for any jobs. Interesting.

I'd love it if Griff was waiting to talk to those guys, but who knows?

Battier is on the heat staff?

Just finally found a link with info.. I wonder how much he’s actually involved with coaching vs off court duties.. he could be a nice name to bring into the analytics team rumored to be developing

That's a nice dark horse candidate. Not a ton of coaching experience but pretty highly regarded for his leadership and knowledge of the game and he did get 4 years under Coach K.
