Was not pulling AD & Jrue sooner. Like someone mentioned in another thread, we can’t ask AD grind for 40+ a night over 82 games. And there’s not one reason I can think of not to pull starters when you’re up 20+ w/ 3:00 left. Maybe I’m still haunted by Boogie’s injury w/ 2-3 Sec left last year.

Other than that - what a frickin start to the year!!

Dude it was 15pt game at one point in the 4th. That’s 5 possessions. Not worth it to pull them.

Probably because a team like the Rockets can pile on 20 points in 2 minutes

I don’t mind it game 1 against Houston. Paul left the court last of all the big names. Houston wasn’t going to quit until inside 2-3m and our guys got yanked after that. You don’t want to sit them and have them come in to save the day because you gave up 8-10 in a 60-80 seconds against a team capable of that. Just finish it til they quit. Get your first win in Houston in forever. Start the season the right way.

YEah you right. To me game one is like a playoff game for us, in now important it was to start strong based on the vibes of the preseason and also considering who we were playing.

Frank, Okafor and others will see significant time later on along with Randle, Clark, and Hill. This is about the first time I can remember where I felt we had legit NBA players all over our bench in a long time.

Someone on here I’m sure can come up w/ official stats on how many times an NBA team has blown a 20 pt lead w/ 3:00 left. I’m thinking it’s <0.05%. I’m not talking pulling them up 15 w/ 5 min left. But waiting til 1:30 up 21?? You can not take a shot for 5 possessions and still win by 7-8.

I’m just saying avoid a freak injury and think about cutting minutes for your stars when it’s pointless to be out there.

And hopefully I can complain about this after 50 more wins this reg season!! (Insert “cheers” gif here)

I agree Frank and Jahlil will see more minutes, as each are coming off of injuries and both intrigue me as potentially important bench pieces. I really like the composition of this team, especially if we can turn Solo into something useful

Mine was making Solo the secondary ball handler late in the third. The cameras cut to Gentry, and he realized it was a mistake so I doubt it happens again. Think he said something to the effect of “I should’ve left E’twaun in” or something like that.

This isnt football dude. We pull AD and Jrue to early and the Rockets come back abd win. And this isnt a lottery team we were playibg. They were the 2nd best team in the league last year behind GSW.

Going forward we need to get Randle minutes closer to 30mpg vs the 23 he received tonight.

We can certainly get Randle more minutes. Still cant pull Jrue/AD in a game like this. Maybe against a lottery team when we’re on a road trip or have back to backs etc.

Moore-Hill-Mirotic-Randle needs to be an effective unit when Jrue and AD sit.

Also a second rim protector is going to need to emerge...aka Diallo.

Unless Demps pulls the ATL deal and DD is around as a small ball 5.

Don't think the Pels can survive sitting Holiday and Davis at the same time

Agreed on more rest over the season, but opening night against a division rival you want to displace is an early tone setting game. Part of taking the next step is the team learning how to close out games and extend leads instead of limping to the end.

We closed out games really well last season compared to ones before.

The improved depth must lead to resting the All Pros...early season must find a net positive unit without them.

Which of course leads back to a true wing stepping up and contributing.

Also I’d like to see Jrue off the ball in any backcourt except when paired with Frank

Let's say they both play 34 mpg. 20 mpg together, 14 Davis on Holiday off, 14 Holiday on Davis off.

what's the issue?
