One of the articles I read today on nba.com said the goal of the new CBA was to have each franchise make a $10 million per year profit. I don't think it was accidental or good journalism that those terrible financial statements leaked out. The league obviously plans to use the Hornets to help make their case for the new CBA. If they are able to get anything close to what they want and the post CBA Hornets are profitable, you'll have no shortage of people trying to own them.

You think the goldrings would ever want to get into that, lockout or no lockout? My neighbor is a goldring and her husband is a big hornets fan.

I'm intrigued by it. Know he would try to keep them here, no clue what type of owner he would be though

I heard someone on ESPN radio about 2 months ago discussing how there were 12 teams in worse financial shape that the hornets...Supposedly the Hornets were middle of the pack in far of revenue, even if they were losing money.

This was a talk about relocation and contraction. I think it was Hollinger or one of the other NBA writers. Stein maybe.

Bart has a lot of dough, but only enough to own a percentage. That's not to say he couldn't assist in putting a group together.

glassman mentioned some heavy hitters. I'm not sure any of them, alone, is in a position to become a majority owner, but I could be wrong. However, together they could put enough to buy the team. How workable or realistic is that? Who knows?

Have we asked the NOLA residents on the O-T about purchasing a share yet? Everyone there is loaded with mansions, private jets, etc. I think the O-T could buy the team

Anyone motivated/nosey enough to find out how much money Morris Bart has could get a look at his tax filings. They're public record and should give a good idea of how much $$$ he has...

Morris only wants 10%; has two other NOLA investors as well
quote:

New Orleans-based attorney Morris Bart said he is interested in purchasing a 10-percent minority share of the New Orleans Hornets if the NBA can find a local majority investor.

Bart has been a corporate partner with the franchise for the past five seasons and said he wants to help to keep the team in New Orleans.
