Zion brings butts to the arena. He is that excitement this city needs to make basketball popular in New Orleans. I don’t think morant could do that. At least not right now. It was the right choice.

One day you guys will realize it’s a guard driven league. Until then I’ll hope I’m proven wrong.

Maybe I’m wrong

Hope you’re right but my point stands that Morant was safer pick.

Yeah I definitely get your point tho. It is a guard driven league now. I think everyone who posts on here regularly knows that, but the hype with Zion is too great to pass up. shite I have family who don’t even watch basketball like that and are excited to watch him finally play and know who he is. He can help build the culture and fan/team relationship the quickest and best

It's actually not.

The biggest stars aside from Harden and steph are all forwards

Bron
Giannis
AD
Kawhi
PG
Durant

The future is gonna be SF heavy too

Luka
BI
Tatum
Zion

Guards are important, but pre-Durant GS is the only team in recent history to win a championship with a guard as their best player.

Steph aside, you're pretty much fricked if your best player is a PG. See CP3 era Hornets, Portland, Houston, Post-Durant OKC.

Preach. As much as AD was hyped, everyone knew it would take him a year or two to dominate and weren’t expecting much his first year and the city didn’t flock to the arena like they will for Zion. I think part of it too is that the city can feel that with Zion, BI, Jrue, Zo and the pieces we have for the future on the roster and picks wise, that we can turn into a perennial playoff contender for years to come.

It makes me feel that way. And I don’t think people really felt that way, even when we made that run with Boogie and Rondo, at many points during the AD era. I don’t think Ja would have made people feel that way.

I wouldn’t say it’s a guard league either. It’s more of a Wing league. Versatile SF and SGs and even PFs, are the name of the game.

We have young, versatile All-Star caliber players at SF and PF with BI and Zion. Jrue will be a good SG for us but long term we need a Klay Thompson caliber type at SG to truly put pressure on teams in the later stages of Zion and Ingram’s careers

Nah.

Forwards that play like guards >>> Guards that play like guards.

Give me Giannis, a prime Lebron, Kawhi, or a healthy KD to start a franchise around over Steph, Harden, Lillard, or Irving.

About the only player that would make me break that rule right now is Luka.

When healthy I would add Griffin to this list also.

He's the one Zion should mold his game after, besides the never healthy part

Why?

Healthy Griffin and prime CP accomplished a lot of nothing.

12-13 and 13-14 are the only seasons he stayed healthy and played 80 games

But healthy Griffin is a gamechanger

And he's built like a forward at 6'7", 230 lbs.
