frick Mark Cuban. He's a quintessential liberal douchebag who doesn't appreciate the freedom given to him as an American. He is a 9-11 conspiracy theorist and a total dickwad.

You guys don't know what you're talking about. Mark Cuban is right and IMO the hornets shouldn't make any trades if they can't find a suitable buyer for their crappy franchise.

Bet Cuban wasn't saying that same hypocrisy over the then league-owned Rangers, when beating out the Yanks for Cliff Lee's 2nd Half services..

Of whom he intended to buy.

He is a moron. For the league to get a good deal for the team, they need to increase its value. If you improve the team, attendance and sales, thus revenue, increase. When revenue increases, the team's value increases. You always have to spend a little if you want to make a little. Pretty much true of any business.

If the team isn't sold this year, should we not be allowed to sign players during free agency? That's moronic.

The criticism would make sense if the league was hurting the team in terms of value and performance. Or if it was using some unfair advantage. But that's not the case. It's merely allowed the GM to make reasonable moves. If you accept Cuban's premise, Demps wouldn't be allowed to do anything.

I think it's pretty obvious with Andersen being pulled from the deal and the deal taking so long to complete that they were getting approval to use a trade exception and take on salary. David Stern says suck it Cuban. The NBA is trying to raise the value of the franchise to flip it. Do you flip a house by not paying for any improvements?

I thought we were supposed to dump Anderson in that trade too. That would've made the numbers mo better.

I was surprised to see DA on the court last night.

This ^, it takes a dollar to make a dollar. I bet he was in the running to get Landry and is just pissed now. Although I do think he has a point, you can't put the franchise in lockdown mode and disallow roster moves. frick Cuban, I'd love to knock them out in the first round again like we did a couple of years ago. With our new three man rotation down low I think we can make that happen

In light of Mark Cuban's comments about the New Orleans Hornets, Bodog.com has posted odds on whether or not he will be fined. Currently, YES is 3/2 and NO is 1/2. Cuban was upset that the NBA allowed the league-owned Hornets to take on salary in their trade with the Sacramento Kings. "That's just wrong," Cuban said. "That's just wrong. That's just absolutely, positively wrong. I'll probably go against the grain from everybody else, but that is so far wrong that it's not even close. There's so few teams in the league that can afford to do that and yet we're allowing a team that's owned by the league to do that? I don't need to be competing economically with the league and myself."

There's actually a lot about Cuban I like, although he's full of shite on this one.

I do remember last year when the Hornets were playing in Dallas and CP3 slid into some fans past the baseline. Some fans started fricking with him and Cuban jumped in the middle and defended CP3. That was sort of nice, I thought.

Plus the guy is a fan and players' dream owner.

I'll give Cuban this. He's an owner. He actually spends millions of his own bucks on his players. In my book, he has more right to speak of this issue than any of us fans. He may be right or wrong but I think he definitely has a right to speak on the issue with his opinion.

Of course he does. But his argument doesn't make sense if you think it through. If you took his approach, league ownership of a team would truly be a sham.

Excellent point. The Hornets shouldn't be expected to just be a stepping stone for other teams. That WILL make the franchise unprofitable. TB for Cuban.

This article on the NBA trades runs down the more impactful trades at the deadline and Carl Landry was one of them. Good perspective on everything going on....
