You’re out of your mind thinking about taking on Horford.

Everyone said the same about OKC taking on Paul, that worked out pretty well for them.

Sometimes you have to swing for the fences. If the Atl trade ends up falling through, Philly is a damn good fallback option.

Chris Paul and Al Horford are not even remotely similar.

Horford is basically a bum now. CP3 is one of the all time greats.

They've got to have another deal in place for that cap space. Ibaka and Grant or Gallo would be my guess

I think we are gonna push to trade for a low pick and see what else those teams offer. I also think we are going to target young assets on teams that do not have a top 10 pick. The truth of what we want to do is probably somewhere in between those plans.

Horford had one of his best seasons ever by advanced metrics just a season ago.

His fit in Philly was absolutely horrible, which could explain the huge drop-off in his production.

Paul’s case is an anomaly. shite like that rarely ever happens. If you’re banking on that you might as well tank the team. Taking on Paul by giving up Westbrook while fleecing Houston isn’t the same thing as trading Holiday who has value this off season.

That’s neat. I actually watched him play about 10 games and he looked like dogshit

Maybe it was fit but I think he’s just getting towards the end of his time.

Especially being 34 in a position that’s a lot more demanding physically than a guard position like CP3 has

I'd love gallo on this team. He was one of the first FA I mentioned on here a while back and people didn't like that fit for some reason.

And you'd be getting value for Jrue. Thybulle and 4 firsts worth of value.

Horford is salary you're hoping you can flip later. Absolute worst case with him is you have a GREAT mentor for Hayes for 2 years and then you use a top 10 protected 1st to dump his final 11 million.

Best case you can flip him for a 1st after rehabbing his image for a year.

The Nets don’t have any control over what Atlanta does so I don’t understand your point.

I’ve not seen any potential deals for 6 where they get better players than dinwiddie or levert. What they should have done is trade for Chris Paul

I think the nets can convince them to hang tight for a while

I’m not opposed to Horford if we’re taking him as a dump to get more value back for Jrue.

But as an actual “asset” in the trade? Nah.

I love this reasoning. Let's flip our 30 y/o player because he doesnt fit the timeline and trade for a player who overall does less for us. Only for the mentality that you can flip that older player again when he's on his way to 40 years old.

And worst case scenario, he falls off a cliff or becomes injury riddled. See how dumb that is? Then you have no flexibility to get better and back yourself into a corner.

That dude Gallo is a fricking dog. Shoots like a sniper, especially when he plays the Pels.

Killed us everytime he has played us.

I'd rather just take the cap space and try to convince FA's to sign longer contracts here.

Where did I say he would be an asset?

He would be salary that you hope you can turn into an asset.

The assets are a 23 year old defensive 6'5" guard that would take Jrue's place, along with the 4 1st rounders.

That would be a top 5 trade package imo. I get it though, everyone believes he's washed up, hell I'm about 50/50 on it, but if everything else falls through I would take that package quick. You lose nothing on the defensive side of the ball, and you still get at worst a good vet leader.

The athleticism/ flexibility we could have with Zion, BI, Hart, Lonzo, Gallo, etc would be awesome. We would just need to add a facilitator and a vet center not under 6'11
