You were just the last post on the thread when I started responding.

I was agreeing with you that I wouldn’t hate it if it happened.

That trade would have us at 14-15 1st rounders in the next 6 years. You have PLENTY of ways to get better, and a bunch of flexibility, especially if a team like Washington decides to blow it up and values draft picks.

You have to look now and in the future. Alot of you want to compete this year, it's simply not going to happen.

It’s absurd that you are still trying to justify this. It’s really sad.

So all those philly picks will be lottery or worth a lot in a trade? I've said this in the past wouldn't we want to keep the few positive assets we draft the next few years? This isn't about competing this year. For the billionth time why do people want to add a player worth more than Jrue that won't be here long term???? People want Wiggins why oh just to trade him in the future, now you want horford why oh maybe we can trade him in 2 years and hopefully doesn't fall apart.

Why can't we get the younger guys we want to play together and build chemisrty instead of wasting years and millions of cap for players that aren't in the grand scheme of things. And also how do people continuously try to flip that and claim people have a "win now mentality"

We won't trade Jrue to a shite team, Griff respects him to much to do that. So that means unless you can find an Atlanta to jump in and take salary into their cap space, you will have to take salary back in the trade. That's part of making a trade. We don't have the playing time available to take back 3-4 younger players, along with having to find playing time for our own players and draft picks we have already on the team. There will have to be a balance.

Why would Griffin not get the best deal he can possibly get? More crazy talk. Holiday will be a free agent in a year and can go wherever he wants. This idea that Griffin won’t take the best deal because he respects Holiday is some dumb shite.

Yeah the problem is that people are so caught up in getting 20 draft picks. I'd rather attach picks with Jrue for better packages before I take older/ lesser players while losing cap. In other words I'd rather trade Jrue and picks for Simmons or other players that would be here for 3+ years. Cause you know then that would replace some of these mid 1st draft picks that everyone thinks will turn into our saviors.

Yeah as a small market team that doesn't really attract free agents, if you do right by your players even if it means taking a TINY bit less than you could, other players notice that.

Treat players like shite and they notice that even more and you'll never get another free agent worth half a shite here ever again.

Small market teams can still develop their own guys or make trades. No small market teams is going to rely on the open market to attract players. That’s a failed model that’s been proven year in and year out. And that’s certainly not the route we’ll take either.

Problem is you're not going to find a move like that unless a team decides to blow it up. Instead take on salary for extra picks, then when the time comes for a Washington to blow it up next off-season, you have the draft ammunition to offer any kind of package you need to to beat someone else's offer.

Right now, you absolutely have to move Jrue, there would be some animosity if we didn't, but you move him to a contending team while still getting the most you can.

We will never get a max player highly prized FA, but the JJ Redick types would never look our way, and that's the ones as a small market you need to win a championship.

Ok so please help me out because this is what I've been confused with about people on here. Why are we trading our best trade asset now only to think we will have the assets to trade for a bigger star 2 years later?? Teams don't want 4 first and no players. We would want to keep just about every other player on our team so that trade is unrealistic. Your best bet for that trade to happen is either to sign Jrue to an extension and then flip him with 1sts for that player or try to do that same thing right now. Why do people think Jrue's value will drop so much the next 1-3 years? His best quality is his defense and aggression. Even if he gets bigger and slower the dude is gonna eat in the paint and be a wall for the next several years...

So we can’t sign any half decent free agent because we trade Holiday to get the best deal for the organization. Do you know how stupid that sounds?

My man. You should be super happy. We got draft picks and didn’t have to take on Horford’s horrible contract.
