Dell had no choice - the national media was painting him as a clown bc the mouthpieces are shills for large market teams.

Other than trading AD, which they didn't want to do, this was the only way to change the narrative.

ETA: Wow. After reading that article, the Lakers are in worse shape than i thought, and I knew it was bad.

The Lakers have been a mess but the last few months have exposed the depth of it.

There are multiple things going on there.

The locker room is in turmoil due to LeBron and the trade talks.

The coaching situation was a shite show last season and will be again this season between a coach LeBron is unlikely to listen to in Vogel and an assistant in Kidd who will make Vogel’s back into a pincushion.

The medical staff is a problem because Magic hired celebrity trainers to the staff who didn’t have a history working with basketball players and they had a lot of injury issues familiar to Pels fans as a result.

They really don’t believe in analytics and were one of the last teams on board with it.

Pelinka is a snake that no one likes, which means few GMs want anything to do with him. That hurts his ability to make trades. About the only reason he has the job is that he used to represent Kobe.

Magic was a disaster as POBO and the lack of one going forward isn’t any improvement because it is still the same idiot braintrust (Jeannie Buss, Pelinka, Kurt and Linda Rambis, Phil Jackson, etc) running things that doesn’t know shite.

And the biggest problem is Jeannie Buss herself, who has a strong belief in Laker exceptionalism and figures things will just turn out if they do them rather than making smart decisions. She’s basically an early stage James Dolan.

I like how literally blames everyone else except for hisself for everything that happened pathetic.

Magic actually gave us some credit. He said Zion should be happy to come here because Gentry will help him develop some skills ( outside shot I guess) and also he likes Langdon and Griffin hires. I mean this is obvious to anyone with a pulse but still refreshing to hear something that isn't "Zion should pull an Eli."
