Without Redick, that’s a terrible free throw shooting squad. I rather have Redick in to close. Maybe sub him out on defensive situations if needed but I feel a hell of a lot better if he was in the game to close it out.

Love it. He's so capable of being really good.

I dunno about Redick. If we're behind a few points, then he's definitely out there. But if we're up three with a minute left, then getting stops is important, and I'm not sure he's out there in that situation.

he's not a stopper on his own but redick is smart and can play team defense. if he's on an island against a big 2 or small 3 thats a breakdown in team D.

he will close

Yeah, I really think Jrue, Redick, Favors, and Zion will close in most games. The 5th player will vary between Ball and Ingram (with Hart maybe getting some time as the 5th guy too).

If Ingram isn’t closing games then the trade doesn’t look nearly as good. He was clearly the centerpiece.

I don't think this is a trade that we can say that any part is clearly the centerpiece in year 1. We have 3 future picks that we don't know the value of, 2 young players that can possibly turn into stars, and 2 rookies with untapped potential.

Also, just because Ingram may not finish every game, that doesn't mean that he isn't contributing to the team. I think his biggest value is going to be getting buckets with the second unit.

I don't think there was a clear centerpiece. The picks could be amazing. Ingram could be a stud. Lots of experts think Lonzo has the highest ceiling of all of the young Laker players. We basically got a bunch of high jackpot scratch-offs where half of the assets could end up being the centerpiece.

There's a best case scenario where the young guys develop and the Lakers go to shite and the Pels have an embarrassment of riches to ensure the Zion era is full of rings and banners. There's a worst case scenario where AD gets some help in Los Angeles and Lonzo/Ingram never figure it out and we end up with a pile of middling assets. Even in that case though we still have way more assets than we started the AD era with. Winning Zion changed everything and put the Pels in a situation that would be very hard to mess up.

That and free throws. An interesting debate would be Lonzo improving which one of the two (for the sake of discussion let’s say he improves one but not the other, at least not significantly) would be more important to team success.

FTs all day. With the pieces on this team, and as he gains a bigger following in the NBA, if he continues to attack the basket he will find himself on the line a lot more.

no he didn't... but he has worked on it, evidently.... we'll see soon enough how improved his shot is.... if not, we'll see a healthy dose of Nickeil...

depends... if we need perimeter defending, Ball replaces Redick, alongside Jrue.... could stick NAW at the 3, if need be, over Ingram... bottom line is we have a MUCH improved roster, to where we have many options as far as a lineup, something we've NEVER had in our history as a franchise, IMO...

I mentioned Jrue, Redick, and Favors due to their leadership and the "been there before" veteran status. They are the adults in the room, so that's why I think they'll be on the floor during clutch time. I could be wrong on that, but that's how I see it.

Also, I think it'll be hard to keep Zion off of the floor, due to his playstyle (whatever it takes to win type of attitude).

That's how I came to those 4, I could see it being different but that's what I would expect, at least to start the year.

Then, depending on situation I think the 5th guy could be variable. If we need more defense, throw Lonzo out there. If we need more buckets, throw Ingram out there. Lonzo is long enough to guard most 3's, so I don't see a Jrue/Lonzo/JJ backcourt to be an issue defensively.

ETA: and yes, I agree it's pretty awesome to have this many good players on our team. It's a good problem to have to "argue" about who should be playing clutch time minutes because you have so many good players.
