Another egregious meme from last night.

He is extremely, EXTREMELY high motor for a guy his size

He does have some conditioning issues at times but that has nothing to do with effort or motor

He shot them well in the tournament, albeit with a teeny sample size. It’s possible that he could become respectable from deep. Highly doubt he’ll ever be near KAT’s level, but getting to around 35% isn’t unforeseeable

KAT is in the conversation for best shooting big ever

KAT also has the opposite athleticism, where he's good straight line and has some verticality but gives nothing side-side and Queen lacks the speed-jumping explosion but is pretty athletic/nimble otherwise.

Kat had a solid and eventually very good outside shot. Queen has no outside shot. Slightly different there buddy.

Virtually every draft profile believes he has the ability to get it, because he has a very good touch

He's nothing like Ben Wallace. Nothing. Well, he is black.

My point is he is one dimensional (I.e offense at best) and a good passer.

I see Dumars trying to use his Detroit strategy to build this team. It worked great until it didn’t and then turned into a disaster. The league has changed and we brought in a guy that still thins its 2002.

Queen's apex comp is some version of Cousins/Randolph/Randle.

He's nothing like KAT, Barkley, Ben Wallace, etc.

That's 2 dimensions?

And he tries on D and has an IQ he just lacks size and certain athleticism (especially projecting as a rim protector).

However, he's still chubby (after losing like 25 lbs before this year) and may be able to unlock a bit more with pro training.

Another 4 page thread where we tear down a guy because of his fit next to Zion..

How do we know Dumars hasn't already decided to move on from Zion?

Being in shape is about effort. He seems to be a lot like Zion in that way. When in shape, he will be a good player, except he has a hard time staying in shape and if he has to busy his arse every off season to make up for low effort during that time, it’s going to be a mess.

Kid is talented, but they did not learn from the Zion issues at all.

Kid wears down in games quickly. If he’s a 10-15 minute a game bench guy, then he’s a solid pick. Anything more than that is going to require a major lifestyle change from him.

I mean, he's actually older than all but one player that was drafter before him. Maybe he's not old, but he's certainly older.

Off the court.

On the court he plays with extremely high effort and motor

Substantially more than say Zion on the court

What?

He's got the same offensive style/profile and athletic profile. Good hands/IQ, skilled, post up game, can pass, etc.

He lost quote a bit of weight once he landed in Maryland through out the season. While he's not where you want him to be, he's made strides and it shows his work ethic.

I consider passing an offensive skill. He’s a good offense player that will struggle inside on defense. My point with Ben Wallace is that Wallace was strong as an ox and a presence down low. Queen lacks that strength but has lateral quickness.

So defensively he will be a liability like Wallace was offensively. It’s 4 on 1 on one end of the court.

Queen could improve and I think he fell pick wise where he should have been, but he is not going to be a player that is a top 2-3 on a team that will contend. Thus, the trade was even stupider than just from any logical value stand point.

He's shown flashes of being a very good switch defender out the perimeter which is very useful in modern defenses

Not a good 1 on 1 defender

Funny I was low key thinking that. What if JD moves Zion next year and recoups a couple of first round picks.

His defense is predicated on IQ and knowing his limitations. He's going to get to the right spots with good timing and hold his ground. He's not going to he a liability but he won't be anything more than average due to his limitations. And that's fine for his archetype.

The amount of mind numbingly stupid takes in this thread about Queen is unreal
