Damn, so there’s very little value in being the nba steals leader and probably the top rebounding guard in the nba? On top of that, he was voted the best defensive wing in the league last year.
Remember this was also his first year basically taking over the major play making role on the team like you said, his turnover percentage dropped significantly as the year went on as he grew into that role.

Apparently, I have not made myself clear. DD is a fantastic defensive player ...as is Herb. I luv both players. But, I doubt any top 6-8 teams in the NBA (what I call serious playoff contenders) would want either one...in a "major play making role" on the offensive end of the court. Herb...because he would suck at it...and DD...because he CAN'T and even more importantly WON'T... shoot the 3-pt shot. These teams already have offensive players for the "play making role" who are far better than Herb or DD at doing that job.
If these top 6-8 teams are looking for anything...it's probably a glue guy who is a 3&D player who doesn't require or ask...for the ball. They already have more than enough stud players to fill the play making role. The Lakers are an exception...as they want a 3&D guy AND a solid defensive center who is a rim protector.
The question is...can either Herb or DD become a consistent 35-36% C&S 3-pt shooter? I think Herb can & will under the right circumstances and I doubt DD...ever will. So, despite DD's advantage over Herb in the play making role...I don't think this "advantage" would be of any use to a contending team...as they are not going to use DD in that capacity.

With the scarcity of defense in the league today, and because there is a premium on defense, particularly in the postseason, either Herb or DD would be a welcomed addition to any contending team. You always need somebody to commit to the dirty work that players who only play 48' of basketball court won't (we, as Pelican Fans, are quite familiar with these types, aren't we?)
DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!!
DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!!

Hes a negative offensive player being paid as the 3rd best player on the team starting next year.
It will absolutely matter.

Or CJ took over a lot of pg duties lol.

Same CJ that would get constantly blasted on here for not being able to handle it? The main reason why we overpaid to trade for Murray?

Lmfao he shat the bed in the 4th of that Hawks game too.
Just look at the usage % dyson is waaaay down the list of Hawks players.

Unleash your goal is "make the playoffs" and nothing more, which isn't the case.

Dysons assists and usage went down once CJ got there.
You tried to play it took care of the ball better, but the reality was that he handled the ball less.
Instead of conceding, you tried to change the subject.

He should really thank CJ. This season would have an an absolute disaster for him if CJ didn't come in and take away all that pressure off of him offensively.

Quinn Snyder is exactly who we should have gone after..
He takes the personnel he's given and extracts what he can out of them. Hes actively coaching on every play, at both ends of the floor..
Meanwhile Mike Brown is your typically Lakers-esque coach who just keeps harping on the overall talent of his stars and how they should eventually win
Its the oldest story in the NBA where a team with a shite coach whose top 3 (Brunson/Towns/Bridges) would probably all be the best player on the opposing team, but the coach of that team is good enough to scheme their way into a competitive series

You sound exactly like Whatidontknowsofar all last year. DD was only able to get all those steals and play great defense and make 1st team all defense team b/c he played next to Trae. Now it’s only b/c he’s playing with CJ. Who woulda thunk it.

Are you watching this game?
The entire defense is slacking off of Dyson and basically daring him to shoot, and he's still passing out to someone else
Take away a couple of CJ pull-up 3s with 20 secs left on the shot clock (everyone's favorite), and this is a 15 point game

They got bounced last year because they lack offense.
Dyson defense does not make up for his lack of offense.
You will never realize this.

What exactly is the goal of this Pels team? You think they competing in the playoffs? Like I said, and I’m being real, by the time this team sniffs the playoffs again, Dysons extension will be finished anyway. That’s the hard truth of the matter.

This isnt about pels.

Thats because you dont realize how quickly nba teams can turn things around.

To be competitive enough to make the play-in/playoffs
They're never going to be a perennial championship team. The best team we ever put together, everyone here would agree that we would have been bounced in the conference or nba finals
Teams like the Blazers, Kings, Suns, Wizards, Wolves, etc have all had their moments..
Not one trophy to show for it
