Boston may not trade AS MUCH for him but would put in a deal with the assumption that AD wouldn’t walk away from a winning team, let alone one with the history of success the Celtics have.

AD isn't signing an extension in July

He's signing one in 2020 after a year wherever he goes

Which is a problem because their current assets are underwhelming for a variety of reasons including but not limited to injuries, contract expirations, on court play, and attitudes.

Whoever trades for AD is in the driver's seat to sign/resign Kyrie. The choice is trade for AD and keep Kyrie in Boston or watch both go to a division rival in New York, possibly joined by a 3rd max player like KD/Klay/Boogie.

If they don't trade for AD Boston likely becomes a team with Tatum as their best player and a new Super Team forms in their own division.

If AD wins a title in Boston, I’d find it hard pressed for him to walk out the door

Knicks are the leader

What could they possibly offer that we want? Im honestly asking since they don’t have Porzingis anymore

14% odds at the #1 pick plus they got 2 future firsts from Dallas in the trade. Between young players and future picks they can offer a similar assortment of extras as Boston could add to Tatum, IF the Knicks win the lottery.

Taking Hill would be the only way to achieve salary cap relief...

Moore could net us a 2nd rounder at a minimum, and other than those 2 we dont have anyone besides Jrue signed long term..

If the offer is Kuzma, Ingram, Ball, Zubac, KCP, 2-1sts for AD, Hill, then you would have to start thinking long and hard about that if you're the Pels..

You could flip Ball (since he doesnt want to be here) to someone like Chicago for Dunn and their 1st (send LA 1st to Chi), or Phoenix, or Orlando... All teams he said he would go to

I would have teams line up for Ball before we ever sign a trade for AD if Ball is involved.

He’s a goddamn headache and not worth his contract, so I want to know his street value before we get stuck with him.

The Lakers don't have the ability to overpay for AD right now. There's literally nothing they currently have that they could offer that would make me say yes over even the lesser trades Boston and NYK would offer.
Boston could, Denver could, Phoenix could, maybe Chicago

I would SERIOUSLY consider a trade if the Lakers gave up their young core, 3 unprotected firsts (19, 21, 23) and a pick swap in 2022 option and just say frick it. That way, if the Lakers end up sucking or unable to compete around AD post Lebron, you're the beneficiary of their rebuild.

ETA: this is coming from someone who would rather quit following the Pels than see Lebron get his way. That package starts getting into, "this is getting kind of silly, we're taking advantage of their desperation" territory.

I have pretty much come to accept that AD will be in New York this summer

I understand that. But if AD and Rich Paul keep making it abundantly clear that he will not resign with the Celtics no matter what, why would Ainge give up Boston’s future?

This is why

quote:

The only problem was KG wanted nothing to do with Boston. He wanted warm weather and a chance to contend, not icy winters and the second-worst team in the league. Garnett (who had a player option the next summer) made it clear he wouldn’t sign an extension. In turn, Ainge wasn’t about to give up Al Jefferson and the No. 5 pick for a one-year rental.

quote:

The draft passed, and in time so did rumors that Garnett was headed to the Lakers for Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum. To the Warriors in a three-way deal involving Jason Richardson. To Phoenix for Amare Stoudemire. There was a three-way deal that would’ve sent Amare to Atlanta and Shawn Marion to the Celtics. There was interest from the Cavs (with young LeBron), the Bulls (a year from landing Derrick Rose) and the Mavs (KG and Dirk!), but nothing worked.

quote:

In the meantime, Ainge never gave up on Garnett. He traded for Ray Allen. He stayed in Kevin McHale’s ear. Minnesota and Boston got close on another deal, only this time, when Ainge and KG met person, Garnett was more motivated to relocate. With Ray Allen on board, he thought the Celtics had a shot.
Satisfied with everything KG had to say, Ainge powered forward.
He and McHale once again agreed on a deal: Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, Ryan Gomes and two first-round picks for KG.

How much influence does his babies momma have? She likes the 7.5 million dollar home in LA. She also has a baby with Kenneth Faried.
I wish them luck and a long future. She prefers NBA players. I hope she really loved him and not that cash flow. Wonder how much Faried has to pay her? Awkward when he plays against Faried. Thanks for the cash pal.

Meet AD’s baby momma.
