Of course I could be wrong. But I guarantee you I'm not the only one with this opinion.
There are more like you!?!?!

the only one who was getting raped in that trade last night was Houston and they were a willing to go along with it
not really. I thought this at first too but then one of their fans on here said they're doing it to clear up cap space plus they were planning on signing nene once the deal was official. So they got Gasol and Nene and cleared cap space. Sounds like a pretty good deal for Houston.

The Rockets were getting Gasol and shedding salary to get Nene. It would have worked out really well for them.

Everyone I've seen on SportsCenter so far agreed that the deal was good for every party involved. I still don't see how the trade could be vetoed unless Stern wanted LA to receive another player and not have so much cap space.

Where does Hedu Turkoglu fit in all this?

To potential owners, valuable means not having a bunch of players locked in contracts when they buy the team. I think stern pulled the plug on this b/c it decreases our value to potential owners.
odom's deal is over after this year
martin's the next

J. Michael Falgoust: In my convo w/Mark Cuban yesterday, he said the issue with #Hornets #Lakers deal was age of players NO was gettin/length of contracts
We've been ordered to get younger and get more picks
Sounds to me like they're backing us into taking the Clippers deal, probably without Gordon

Again why can't Lakers give cash to balance it out

no they didn't

They got Paul and had the NBA (New Orleans) finance Turkoglu so they could get Howard too.
so? that's not a rape. that's just being a smart GM who can spend money

Stern did his job and protected the NBA's investment in New Orleans
how? by eliminating the possibility of having a competitive team AND cap flexibility?

frick them. Teams with older, better players are winning more than teams rebuilding with young players. There is literally no base for them to argue that we have to trade for youth and rebuild. fricking bullshite.

And Scola is 4 years. So if a owner wanted to buy the team this year, they'd have to wait at least 2 years before they have the cap space to start over. And they would still have Scola's contract

The Magic won't trade Howard without attaching Turkoglu. The Lakers had no assets to send to a 3rd team to take him, and had no cap room to take him. This deal created an 11 million dollar TPE that magically is the perfect amount to be traded for his 10.6 million dollar contract.

How are those bad contracts? Scola is paid reasonably compared to the market. Odom is an expiring. Martin has only 2 years left.

why do they need to?
the hornets have to hit the salary floor REGARDLESS of this deal or no deal
is it better for the hornets to have to sign jamal fricking crawford to get salary?

The Hornets are 3 million from the salary floor with 5 players under contract. They could have signed 7 players to the rookie minimum and hit it.

by my calculation, we'll have $48.66M in salary after this year (okafor, ariza, odom, scola, martin), which is under the cap
we'll also have a major expiring deal (martin) as trade bait to rebuild next year

exactly
big baby just got more than $6M per year for 4 years. i'd rather scola over that time for about $40M

yea I agree with you. I'm just ATTEMPTING to see their side of it. Maybe the potential owners want even less money on the books when they buy the team. I'm thinking everything Stern is doing is directly related to what the incoming owners want.

In resumption of CP3-Lakers talks with Houston, Hornets under directive from NBA to get younger players, quality picks in deal, souces say.
If the Hornets want young talent, then how does 4 of the top 11 picks in the 09 draft sound? Williams, Flynn, Thabeet and Hill just need another change of scenery I'm sure.
