Hopefully they limit his minutes. Don't play him on B2Bs. Do whatever you can to protect your asset and stay within the rules.

I hope the Pels agreed on the condition Silver rigs the lottery for them.

There's no rule saying we have to give him regular minutes, does it?

Scrwed up thing is, of course they were gonna do this. But there will be no compensation if he gets hurt. We only stand to lose here.

The reaction from the crowd will be interesting when they announce him at the start of the game

It’s only because it’s AD and he was going to file a grievance. Butler went away from the Wolves to start the season. Smith is away from the Cavs now. Strange they are forcing the issue now. I guess the difference is that those guys wanted to be away whereas AD wants to play

Exactly, NBA better hook us up with a top pick if he goes down.

All of this.

Professional Sports is ALL ABOUT ENTERTAINMENT and nothing more.

Smaller franchises will be dicked to death by the power structure for profit all damn day.

Pelicans have to stand their ground, period.

I think it's about ticket sales. Remember when the league got super pissed that the Warriors rested players during a nationally televised game? They changed the rules over that. The league markets stars, even opposing stars, and they don't want fans in 29 other cities pissed that they paid to see AD and he's not there and not injured.

It also sucks that this will lead to more wins. The Pels were well on their way to a 30ish% chance at a top 4 pick.

I don’t dispute that but I also think AD wanting to play for the franchise he requested a trade from versus Butler for example who wanted out immediately and went home (even though he came back) plays a part in the thinking.

But I do see fear in a small market franchise having less gate because the star player isn’t playing

No, I'm not saying the Pels are concerned about ticket sales in NOLA, I'm saying the league doesn't want what's going on in New Orleans to financially impact other teams or TV ratings. They want competing teams in arenas, not tanking teams. That's part of why the league basically got Hinkie fired in Philly.

Oh no I didn’t mean the Pels I meant the NBA. Especially when these small markets are playing in the rare marquee matchup.

Right. A lot of teams have gone to variable ticket pricing like the Pels based on the high/low profile of the matchup. No AD turns a medium priced matchup into a $2 on Stub Hub game.

So we have a 'wink wink' relationship with the good ping pong outcomes? Yes!

LOL

Verrier on The Ringer pod talking about how sad and cruel the Pelicans not letting AD play would be. An how we'd be robbing him of his passion

This dude spent like a bachelor party weekend in New Orleans, now Simmons and Co. treat him like he's Buddy D. Like he knows all things New Orleans. Literally only comes on there and takes passive aggressive shots
