Hasn't been done but looks like it'll be done. According to Shams, Nuggets are trading Monte Morris and Will Barton to the Wizards for KCP and Ish Smith.

That seems like a pretty good deal for both sides.

Yeah swap of similar players.

I would assume the KCP contract is a little more than the others involved...

barton & KCP are both one year left at 14MM
morris is 2 years at 9MM
smith is 1 year at 4.7MM

denver sheds a little 2024 salary, gets a 3D wing.
wash gets the best player in the trade

It actually saves Denver money and gets them below the tax
quote:

This is a July 6 trade to make the money work (unless WAS adds more $) KCP- $14M- expiring Smith- $4.7M- contract now guaranteed Barton-$14.37- expiring Morris- $9.12- 2 years left Trade works by $12,129 Denver would replace the $8.2M trade exception with a new $9.1M TE

Ish Smith, if he plays a game for Denver, will break the record for most teams played for in NBA history. This will be his 13th team.

I think Denver is a very interesting team for the Pels to view as a model for team building. They are pretty much all home grown talent that they drafted. They've drafted so well that they've gotten to the point of trading good players, like Malik Beasley for a 1st and now Morris for KCP. Bones Hyland working out no doubt played a role in them feeling Morris was expendable.

That's what the Pels are going to need to do. Have a continually full pipeline of developing rookie scale players so if they get too expensive or need to flip for a better fitting veteran, you can. I've said before I can see a situation where they pay Herb and then might not be able to afford Trey or Jose. When that happens you want cheap depth behind them ready to step up.

great point

also, Morris was a 2nd round pick and they just traded him for KCP. Morris is the better player BUT they could afford to trade him because they drafted well after him

the extra picks the pels have make it much more likely they can keep the pipeline full even with average draft success

No thanks. Give the young guys every possible opportunity.

Which sucks for us because the Wiz were the one team I could realistically see that would be interested in trading for Devonte.
