Pelicans trades for all these 1st round picks with both the Lakers and Bucks are basically tons of very late 1st round picks and nothing but complete gambles to even last in the league more than a handful of years.

The Celtics traded Jeff Green to the Grizzlies in 2015. In 2015, the Grizzlies were 55-27, and trying to acquire some help to get them over the hump, so they gave the Celtics a future 1st. Top 8 protected in 2019, top 6 protected in 2020, and unprotected in 2021. That deal almost netted the Celtics a top 8 pick last year, and ends up at #14, and could have been much worst had Morant not had a breakout rookie year.

Now do you see why having picks 4 and 5 years from now can be very beneficial, especially when Lebron is 36 years old.

we don't konw what the Bucks picks are just yet, but i would assume #24 is included. They already traded away 2022, so that means they can't trade away 2021 or 2023, so that means we get 2024 and 2026 most likely. I'm sure there will be some protections on those last two, and if not, then this deal was an absolute steal with the future potential.

Bledsoe and Hill are real solid players but as others have said they may be redirected elsewhere.

Isn't there a rule about players recently traded not being moved for 60 days?

This trade isn’t official until draft night most likely. There’s still time to make Bledsoe and Hill a part of this trade

The trade hasn't been completed yet, so there's still time to reroute them.

I mean people were talking about getting a top 10 pick and a couple of young up and comers with high potential and instead we got Eric Bledsoe and George frickin hill lol. Whoever is saying they aren’t disappointed is lying
It's like you don't even realize we got basically the same draft pick compensation for Jrue that we did for AD

Lol I’m just saying the players have a choice and I would Imagine the city of New Orleans is pretty close to last for most

We're in an NBA world now where stars are demanding trades with 3 years left on their contracts.

We can get a legit superstar for 2-3 years even without him ever signing a contract with us.

Also, even if your assertion is true, then getting a shite ton of draft picks is the best way to build, so I'm still not sure what you're taking exception to.

That’s way too much for Jrue Holiday and I’ve always thought late firsts are overrated.

Pretty much across the league, no matter where I go or look, that is the sentiment: the Bucks overpaid in desperation.

Only here am I finding people that actually think we lost this deal lol

Our fans are morons and live in fantasy land.

Jrue was our third best player and is 30 years old. Whatever team he ended up on was likely going to be the 3rd or 4th option. 26 million is a lot for that. These mofo’s act like we were gunna get some type of star in return.

Bledsoe can allow Lonzo to play the 2 spot and provide some leadership at PG. Dude was averaging 15 ppg. To act like he is some scrub is moronic.

I’d have been happy with Bledsoe + 1-2 draft picks, but we got Hill and THREE picks.
Very good deal

And pick swaps.

Lets say we get 2024 bucks first and it’s 1-3 protected. And lets say the pick does fall in that range. Can pels use their swap on that pick or is there rule against it since it’s protected?

especially after the constant gripe with Demps was the total lack of willingness to play the long game, making short terms moves that didn't make you a contender and hurt your flexibility.

there was no deal for Jrue that would have made us a lock playoff team next year but some expected that for whatever reason

the same fans thought we "lost" the original trade to get Jrue for like 4-5 years

shite, i imagine some still think noel and burke would have been better (b/c we have some very ignorant, casual fans)

Swaps are in the years that we don't have their pick. So we wouldn't own both rights to the pick (even if its protected), and rights to swap in 2024.

The way I see it:
Ball=Bledsoe
Hart=Hill

So minus Ingram, we basically got almost the same package for Jrue that we got for AD, except for the pick this year not being as good.

NBA fans are up there with being the dumbest in sports. It’s all about the rings, it’s all about LeBron, and it’s all about Jordan

So.....no where near the same package.
just a casual minus Ingram, a 22 year old All-Star, and minus the #4 pick in the draft. nothing to see there.

Hello recency bias. Jrue only played in 55% of the games his first three seasons and started less than 40% of them bc of minute restrictions. His injuries early were a contributor to 3 wasted years of AD.

When if was all said and done he missed 27% of games here

This just solidifies JJ will be gone. NO way we compete this year for a playoff spot.

if you know you are loosing something i guess getting this works.
