Holiday finished second in deflections, 12th in loose balls recovered and 13th in steals overall in the NBA and sixth in blocks among guards — badly besting Beverley and Bledsoe in each category. In a league where injuries have become all too commonplace, Jrue was seventh in distance travelled last season while Beverley and Bledsoe did not break the top-100.

He simply did a lot more.

How did this happen?

Only three guards made the all-defense team. I think Jrue deserved to make it over Beverley and Bledsoe, especially Bledsoe. Even Kyle Lowry and Kris fricking Dunn had more votes. This seems criminal.

Again, Jrue continues to be possibly the most overlooked player in the NBA.

Marcus Smart-1st team
Patrick Beverley-2nd team
Eric Bledsoe-2nd team

Say what you want about him offensively, but on defense he’s been stellar. Definitely deserved to be on not just a team, but the first team.

Snubbed. That’s all it comes down to.
95% of players would gladly take him on their team.

Looks like they just picked players from good defensive teams.

This is seriously one of the worst snubs I can remember. This is why the media shouldn't pick these teams.

The funniest part, is almost every time an NBA guard is asked who the best defensive guard in the NBA is, they all say Jrue. Yet we have dumbass people in the media who vote Pat Bev first team because he's obnoxious as hell and is more annoying on defense than actually good on defense.

Agree. Media is no expert in determining good defensive players. Coaches and players should be voting. Also, media vote for those they see more.

It seems like the media wants individual defense to translate to team defense

Yep. All the other teams were good. It is tough to overcome being on bad teams.

Jrue should blame Gentry.

Appears that selectors are looking at team defense, that is the only explanation of the snub. Jrue is a top 5 defensive player in this league regardless of position and should be perennial NBA all-defensive team with a couple of defensive player of the year awards under his belt.

Agreed. The award should have something to do with team success.

I love Jrue, and he is criminally underrated, but being the best defensive player on a bottom ten defensive team doesn’t really mean shite.

Can’t win the Heisman trophy if your team doesn’t win
