JMO: It should be obvious by now that the 3 major problems for the Pels are...

1. Defense
2. Defense
3. Defense
I'll leave it to you to figure out which individual players are MOST responsible for our overall HORRIBLE defense.
Other stuff: We are 12th in 3-pt % as a team at 36.5%, the league average is 35.8%...we are 28th in 3-pt attempts per game but this basically comes with the territory when you have a player like Zion shooting as often as he does...and only shooting a 3-pt shot 4% of the time. That kinda drags your overall average down quite a bit especially when teamed with Val who only shoots 3s 17% of the time. Bottom line...we are just fine on 3-pt shooting and should get even better when/if we can get BI to shoot more 3-pt shots.
One other thing...I'm a "Herb guy" & don't think Dyson is anywhere close to Herb on the defensive end, but I actually kinda feel sorry for Dyson at the moment. He obviously has a total lack of confidence in his offensive game...and is being put in the terrible position, given our injury situation...of being asked to contribute more on offense, when he is NOWHERE near ready to take on this task. We need to be very careful with him...confidence is a terrible thing to lose for a rookie...and sometimes it's very hard to ever get it back, once you lose it. Having said that..I DO think Dyson will be a very important part of this team by next year...if not sooner.

dyson and naji and trey got starts and the margin of their defeat was the greatest margin heat beat anyone this season.
murphy continues to underwhelm.

Trey is basically just a catch & shoot 3-pt shooter at this time. He's pretty much "lost" in other aspects of the game...especially on the defensive end, where he's not just "pretty much" lost...he's TOTALLY lost.

No one can create their own shot besides CJ.

How about the scoring percentage of Zion? Hard to influence a games flow from the bench.

Lots of whining and crying from “the sky is falling” crowd, especially Dinky. We’re down our 2 best players and also our best defensive player. Any team will lose when that happens. It’s silly to over analyze a young team like us who are forced to play a bunch of young guys in roles that they’re not ready for yet.

"the sky is falling?"...actually, I'm very optimistic that once we get our 3 guys back & playing, I think we have a legit shot to make the WCF, just can't see how we can beat Denver if we manage to get that far. But, I'm just not content with that scenario...and think our major problem holding us back is on the defensive end...and that can be remedied...maybe not this year...but hopefully, by next year.

They should have never given him the full green light to not shoot the three and put the ball on the floor.

We would be better...if we played tonight...and he only took 3s. But eventually, he's got to add to his game, so you just suffer through trying to let him improve and maybe lose a game or two along the way that you might not lose if you clamped him down. Plus...his defense has nowhere to go but up. I'm one of those that doesn't mind losing a few more games during the regular season...if it can probably help...long term...especially come playoff time.

The issue is how often he does neither and passes up a wide open shot and also doesn't attack the close out.

quote:Agree to some extent. The sad thing is that he is very hesitant to shoot. If he is not going to shoot, he does not have a place on the floor. Not sure why he is so hesitant.

Frustrating the two best players are so easily injured.
The NBA has been dead to me for a long time. I try to show a little interest, despite the ridiculous political climate, and bam. NBA is full of overpaid softies.

He had the ball in the paint with no one around him last night and threw it away out of bounds on a kickout.
Dude is mentally fricked. He needs some good pussy and a smack across the head.

He has a pass first mentality and he's trying to balance making a good or better play vs looking for his own shot even if that's the wrong decision.
We kind of groomed him to play this way throughout the year making him feel like his job is to create for everyone else. The staff has to ask him to be more aggressive in taking shots. You guys gotta remember how aggressive he was in the preseason hunting for shots. Now he's not even looking for them.

Which is mind boggling given the lack of shot making we have now

It's not sexy and makes for boring NBA 2K but hey we're talking winning for real right? Absolutely, defense will the biggest factor in how far this team goes.

I would say the 3 biggest problems are
1 (a) No Zion
1 (b) No BI
3. No Herb
