3/26 from 3.

Tonight in 32 minutes he was 1/6 from 3. Terrible. Get off the podcast and be better.

I hate to say it but they need to get the guy off the court and give some young guys some minutes

He's a black hole right now, and he can't guard anyone either. Yikes.

NAW is 6-17 on the season from 3.
Is a better defender.
Is a better scorer.
Only playing 12mpg in 5 of the 7 games.

Our 1st round pick had played the least amount of minutes of every 1st round pick except for the one thats hurt and the other that is still in Spain.

Our bench has played terrible, and if these two can’t get minutes with how bad our bench has been, then they must both suck big time.

Or maybe SVG just trusts the vets more, especially JJ since he had him before?

He's starting to find time for NAW but he's being way to tight with the rotations game after game because they haven't implemented many guys into the offensive plan (he literally just said that he has yet to really make plays for JJ).

You jumping straight to the "they must suck" shite is insane, especially when we've seen them play a bit and know that isn't the case. It's Van Gundy just being way too controlling with things because we didn't have a real training camp and games every other day.

Why is our rookie getting less minutes than 30+ other rookies thus far? Literally 30 other rookies have been able to play more than he has this far, but we are the only team with a shortened offseason, or a new coach huh?

But you go straight to putting it on our players when you are literally stating the problem in your post. He is doing this with most of our bench, not just the rookie/2nd year guys.

This is 100% an SVG issue that needs to change. He is way too controlling with the rotations instead of getting guys in to get some minutes. I get he wants to win, but in doing so he is both stunting growth and wearing out our top players.

frick it if the offense is barely implemented. Just let them play and run some basics with them.

I don’t think Kira sucks. You guys think that’s what I’m trying to say. I’m merely pointing out that guys that aren’t good don’t play. I’m not making that judgement after 7 games.
I think he’’ll be good, and he should be getting minutes, and it’s irritating as hell to me that he isn’t getting minutes compared to all the other rookies out there.

But that's exactly how you keep presenting the argument. If this is just being facetious it isn't coming across. I keep seeing you say they must suck instead of SVG sucks for not playing them.

I’m sorry it comes off that way. I’m a sarcastic arse. That doesn’t always translate in text.

I want Kira to play.
I want NAW to play.

I dont even care if they struggle at times, and I expect them too, we’ll not NAW as much

I want to trade one of Lonzo/Bledsoe/Redick just so those two can get more minutes.

I think SVG is a little too attached to Redick. Most coaches would start giving a shooting specialist less minutes if their shot continues to not fall.

JJ needs minutes to try and get back in the groove, but he's getting way too many for how poorly our bench is struggling. There needs to be a break point at which you get in higher energy guys to attack vs. letting the bench lag.

While I very much respect what Van Gundy is doing with the defense, he is lacking (but I'm still trying to be patient) in offense and the rotations (ALL aspects of it).

I don't think so, not after only 6 games of a cold streak.

Again not saying no minutes. 16-18 is where he should be until he finds his stroke. NAW is high energy and needs more time to get himself and others going.

Trying to play JJ all the way through it is fricking us night after night. There's a give and take.

It's crazy because he is quick to take minutes from Melli when he is cold. But JJ is his boy and I get that.

Maybe when we play vs weaker opponents, we get them minutes.

These rotations may have short term benefits, but they'll hurt us long term. Develop your young guys. Get them minutes even if it costs a win. 10-15mpg will do wonders for their development

exactly.

I know we don't have many media guys asking SVG questions, but someone needs to bring up the fact that 40+ rookies have played more than Kira so far, and what's up with that? why isn't he getting minutes, especially with how bad JJ has been. no one is saying bench JJ, but maybe cut his minutes down and give them to Kira.

The only explanation i can think of he might have is that Griffin really wants to see what he has with Bledsoe and Lonzo before making any decisions on trades. If it's not that, then either SVG is an idiot or Kira sucks.

JJ has talked himself about his time in Orlando and how SVG restricted his playing time as motivation to improve his defense. It's very possible something similar is happening here with some of our young guys.

but NAW looks good on defense, and what little we saw Kira, we saw his quick hands deflect a few passes.

there's just no excuse for either of them to not be playing more.

If that's the case, I want to point out that Melli doesn't deserve any minutes.
