The Ringer has published a doozy of an article alleging that Bryan Colangelo operated 5 anonymous twitter accounts commenting on the Sixers.

An anonymous person in AI learning discovered this and leaked it to the Ringer. 100% certain it was Hinkie or someone associated who figured this out and alerted the Ringer.

Anyhow, one of Colangelo’s alleged burner accounts replied to a comment suggesting the Pelicans had a trade for Okafor in exchange for Etwaun and a pick, that Okafor could not pass a physical and so the deal fell through leading to us later trading for Boogie. Interesting read lightly related to the Pels.

The Curious Case of Bryan Colangelo

This and reports that the Pels were ready to give up 2 1sts for Dwight makes me think letting Boogie walk isn't the lower risk move that the Boogie doubters think it would be. AD being MVP caliber playing center doesn't mean he wants to play it. Demps pressured by AD to fill the center spot has lead to bad move after bad move, and it sounds like the moves they didn't make were even worse.

Hopefully AD sees this. Luckily, it appears that Mirotic is okay with playing the 5 now, and who really plays a post up offense now days anyhow?

We almost traded for Okafor.
We also almost signed Monroe.
We also tried to force Mirotic to opt out.

We were really lucky none of those things happened.

Don't forget about the CP3 trade where we almost got Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Lamar Odom, Goran Dragic and a 2012 first-round pick that Houston had acquired from the Knicks. I doubt we are bad enough with those guys on our team to get us the #1 pick. No AD

Although I am pretty salty that we didnt get Bledsoe in the CP3 trade. I remember us holding out for him until the Pels (well Stern) finally gave in

There were reports that we tried to force opt out.

In fact it was hard play of Dell which gave us back 2018 second rounder.

With Okafor agree. With Monroe - TBH most of us wanted Monroe. Me included...

If 2 firsts were offered for Dwight, then Dwight would be on the Pels. Dont believe everything you read.

Just like Philly would have jumped all over Moore and a 1st. Do you think this story is wrong too, or is it possible that Demps, who is known for doing his due diligence, had lots of deals "priced out", and then Cousins came out of nowhere so he jumped on it?

Thank you to the anonymous voodoo conjurer that saved our teams future and placed a trade for boogie in our laps. The thought of giving up 3'twaun and a first for Jah makes me cringe.

To be fair it just said a pick, so for all we "know", it could have been a 2nd. Maybe Moore was part of the trade because using Ajinca would have required a 1st.

God help me for briefly confusing Okafor and Embiid.

Also to be fair, the article does say another source familiar with the negotiations was unaware of a failed physical and said the trade fell apart because Dell/ Colangelo could not agree on pick protections:

That suggests a 1st was at least nominally (conveys as two 2nds) in the discussion for Okafor as I cannot imagine that protections on a 2nd ever derailed a deal. At the time BC was rumored to be seeking two 1sts or a 1st and a solid player, which he then dropped to a 2nd this year. See RealGM: Okafor Pushng for Buyout

I do believe that Jah failed a physical though as he is consulting the players union about legal actions he can take regarding the leaked information. He has had documented problems with his knee from a previous surgery.

AD has had his first taste of success and it came at C. With his drive, would it be that shocking if he changed his tune after these playoffs and seeing the trend of going small?

ETA: Looney played him really well. I am curious if he wants Cousins back for the GSW matchup alone.

His stance has never seemed rational or attached to the level of success he or the team has had with him at center. So yes, I would be surprised. Now Niko is big and a much better defender than Ryno, so maybe a combination of Niko and Okafor can buy AD enough PF minutes to make it work. But I don't think AD is ready to consider himself a center.

AD looked miserable and discouraged in that Philly game. He wanted no part of Embid.

There’s a massive gap between getting swept by GSW in your only year in the playoffs and sweeping a 3 seed starting on the road. Also, you got one off GSW and had a great shot at 2 without Boogie.

Hard to compare the past and the present for this team.

Edit: he’s going to be pissed if we don’t get anything out of Boogie this offseason. Either returning or trading for a Porter type. But that’s cause it will look like we cheapo’d out. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was ok with upgrading the wings.

This is untrue from two perspectives. 1) Pelicans have control over the option, not Niko. 2) The option thing was a disguise in order to get more back from the Bulls. Pelicans were working with Niko's agent to leverage the threat of the tax into forcing the Bulls to take Ajinca. While they didn't take Ajinca, they settled on the 2nd round pick coming back.
