If so, explain to me why it just won’t heal.

Foot injuries are extremely tricky with basketball players.

KD missed an entire year if I recall.

Embiid missed years with his, again if I recall correctly.

nah he is being cloned... most all stars are clones or moc 5 robots. Especially if they are hyped up at a young age and have injury issues. embiid is a clone. durant is a clone. lebron is moc 5. League can't make money off of humans and injuries

Yup, KD had to have 3 surgeries on his before it finally healed.

Worst part of the body for an injury, there's just no blood flow down there to help promote healing.

Which was what the shot he got on Dec 16 was supposed to do...promote blood flow to help it heal.

Which reminds me, back when he got the shot, they said 4-6 weeks and then we would get a specific injury update.

We are past 4 weeks and into week 5 now...

TJ Warren looked like Michael Jordan in the bubble and basically hasn't been seen since, because of a foot fracture.

Yep, I'm not saying we wouldn't be frustrated at all, but had Zion and Griff gave us the real details on his comeback, it would be an easier pill to swallow.

But telling us on Media Day he'll be ready for game 1 when that was never a real thing then clearing him for practice for all of about 90 minutes are the real ways this was botched.

As someone else said, KD had to get surgery 3 times. I know every injury is different but I think it's more than fair to operate under the assumption Zion won't come back this season with this injury and just be happy if he surprises us and is able to play.

They should have just said, its a foot injury, those are complex, we do not know when he will be back. We hope it is soon but we will not take any chances.

He is treating with the best foot specialists in Los Angeles, and we do not expect it to be a long term injury. It just has to heal fully. That could be 4 weeks or 4 months. We won't know until it does.

Foot injuries suck for regular people . Painful and a long time to heal .

To add running up and down a court and flying through the air everyday of your life adds a whole different layer to the healing process needed .

Add on top of that 270-330 lbs , depending on which rumor you read and picture you see , and you can understand that this is a very complicated injury .

There was never a chance he was going to be ready for the opener . Once it became clear that Griff lied and the injury is a Jones fracture , the odds of him playing at all this season took a nose dive .

IMO it’s more likely that we hear of a second surgery, if that hasn’t already happened , than of a possible return this season .

Then everyone will be pissed that we have no answers. Not that we do now either.

We all know what the update will say:
"Zion is still rehabbing, he wants to play this year. We'll have an update in another 3-4 weeks"

This is becoming just like when you purchase something that is out of stock. You wait a few weeks just to get an update that it'll be a few more weeks until you get an update.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think he's playing this year.

I really am not sure that will be the update this time.

Maybe, but as previously said its more likely that he has another surgery and they don't say anything until then.

To be fair to Griffin, Zion himself said he expected to be ready to play by opening night. Not necessarily a hustle. Most Jones fractures do heal in that 8-12 week time frame (with surgery). Seem to recall Robin Lopez made it back in 8 weeks, and he’s a huge dude. But sometimes they don’t…

I hope he doesn't play this year. Remember Jrue's foot injury. He came back and then he and the team didn't follow doctor's suggestions like minutes restrictions and no back to backs, and turned a 1 year rehab into a 2 year rehab. Let Zion spend the next 6 months living in Nike's pool as far as I'm concerned.

Elephant feet are very tricky to deal with.

That's it right there. It would royally suck, but we'd know exactly where we stand so we wouldn't get our hopes it, or if we did we'd only have ourselves to blame.

But the way they framed it, we absolutely can and should blame them.
