14
20
20
30
22
22

26

And it’s hard to argue with how well Larry Nance has played lately

You really feel a need to start thread after thread when no one cares what you're saying huh

Needs to be more consistent offensively. Tonight he had issues with foul trouble (a couple of which were very ticky tac). Last three games he’s shot 1-4, 2-7, 2-8.

We need what he offers. Depends on matchups, but he is good at what he does.

JV is in some kind of funk this season. I don't exactly know what his problem is, but I know he is capable of playing much better. If his problem is Father Time, then he's likely on his last NBA contract.

Nah, I think Jonas is a great fit for this team and locker room. He Carries us to victories at times, especially against certain matchups. For example, against the Bulls, Jonas kept us in that game the first 3 quarters while our 3 main guys were trying to find their footing.

Next time we run into some injuries, we will fortunate to have a guy like Jonas who we can still run an efficient nba offense through even if Ingram and Zion are out, have foul trouble, etc.

I look at his low minutes as a positive. I felt like he wore down a bit at the end of last year. He will be fresher at the end of the season this year.

Also, Nance is just playing so damn well. It’s not like Jonas is playing like dogshit and Nance is playing below average.

Jonas is usually playing average to above average, but there have been 6-8 games where Nance is just playing great and matches up great, so there is no reason to take him off of the floor.

So sick of these Jonas threads. Yes Larry has been playing great but head best in his role off the bench but still playing starter minutes. You still have to have at least one true NBA center on a roster for bigger teams and JV is a damn good one on a reasonable contract. We should be happy to have him.

Yes. Just because he is from a different country doesn’t mean he can’t read the date. I’m 100% certain he will wake up tomorrow and see that it’s Wednesday the 16th. What a dumb question. All of our days are numbered dude.

I hate this take. Did yall think Jonas was gonna be on our team 5+ years? He’s gonna be here his 3 years and we will move on. Next year is the last year on his contract. He serves his purpose, and Nance serves his purpose. No one was mad when he gave us 30 points and 17 rebound against Charlotte. These threads won’t come up when we dealing with Embiid, Jokic, Nurkic, Vucevic, etc. You have to play the games, and we need Jonas.

Who the hell gonna rebound without him? I love Nance, but you can’t deny that our rebounding looks bad without Jonas. Guess what? Steven Adams played 13 minutes today, Jonas played 14. You play the match ups. He’s needed just like everyone else, that’s why its a team game.

My biggest pet peeve is when people say “well we need a rim running, shot blocking, rebounding, 3 point shooting center” EVERY TEAM IN THE NBA WOULD LIKE ONE OF THOSE. They don’t grow on trees. That’s why you have a duo of a traditional big like Jonas, and a small ball big like Larry Nance so you are able to matchup.

No. Even though Nance was a better player for tonight's game (with a quick opposing guard who can exploit JV in the pick and roll), there's still no way that we can start Nance against a bruising big such as Steven Adams. Nance has a long history of injuries, and he's not going to hold up starting every night against centers who are bigger and stronger than him.

In other words, we still needed JV in this game.

He played Adams tonight and still fricking sucked. Match ups be damned. He’s been unfricking playable.

Didn’t Jonas play for his national team this summer? He is 30 and a big big dude. Probably didn’t do his legs any favor playing that much ball.

stupid take.

I've been saying it since the offseason, JV's minutes need to decrease overall, and him and Nance minutes should be dependent on the opponent and how they are playing that day, and that's exactly what's happening.

JV played the most minutes in his career last year. That can't happen at his age.
You still have to have a big bruiser like Jonas on your team to play against Jokic and Embiid and Vucevic and Nurkic, and a slew of other big guys. Do you want Nance banging with a guy like Zubac? no. It's not like Zubac is going to beat you, but he's going to present a problem for the 24 minutes he plays if you can't put a big body on him.

If you aren't satisfied with what we have at the 5 position between JV and Nance, and with them making a combined $24M, then you might be a doofus. I know a lot of you keep saying we need to upgrade that position, but we really don't. We could upgrade Jax to a better backup 4, but what we have at the 5 is perfectly fine b/c we a matchup at the 5 that we can defend with against anyone, and attack offensively against anyone.

Ideally, we get a top 5 pick and we are able to take a guy that could end up being a Bam or JJJ type player, and that player will take over for JV in the next 2 years.

I think we are starting to see why good teams like Memphis and Toronto eventually hit a wall with Jonas and decide to move on.

He's a nice floor raiser on up and coming teams, but if you are at the level of being a playoff team with an array of scorers, Jonas's price to performance to limitations ratio becomes a bit problematic, especially in a league that keeps getting more athletic, smaller, and versatile.

To me his long-term future here will come down to whether he is willing to take, say, a Nance-like salary and a role that isn't going to guarantee him more than 20mpg some nights, maybe not even always starting(and tbc, if we get that commitment, short of getting Wemby/Lively, I'd want him here).

So far we havent heard a peep of discontent, but the season is early who knows what it looks like in February if he is racking up a lot of sub 20mpg outings

His days were “numbered” when he was exposed in the Phoenix series.

He’s fine, they’re just going to be more selective with his minutes

I’ve been pretty consistent in saying, to the disagreement of a lot of others, that he’s just a stop gap. A really good stop gap, but his future here is limited.

He is good against certain matchups but we need another switchable big like nance. If nance goes down then we're pretty screwed on that front

This is a great take. We are playing a different style and he doesn’t fit.
