Or should we wait? Nah, why not, there are some gems in there...

quote:

Pels_Yaz
If they take Hawkins I swear….

Balsamic_duck
If we take hawkins with dick, bufkin and whitmore on the board i will fricking riot

bonethug0180
We can't stay at 14 now AND take Hawkins. We have to take someone else or trade back.

ghost2most
Where is this Hawkins shite coming from?

That was page 11 alone

quote:

Macintosh504
FIRE GRIFF holy shite

duyp
frick

Balsamic_duck
We just drafted fricking jordan hawkins. Let me go jump off a building

Pels_Yaz
Hahahahaga screw this team

Macintosh504
This Organization is in shambles

brmark70816
I seriously just want to go somewhere and cry. I thought I was speaking it into existence..

Balsamic_duck
This is why this team will forever suck

Balsamic_duck
Exactly so take the big swing with whitmore. Don't be a bitch and draft for need

RUFshreve
He'll be targeted and eaten alive on the defensive end in the playoffs. Griff just bunted with a lottery pick.

Townedrunkard
Griff is an idiot. Have to roll the dice when u picking 14. Bilas had him as #4 overall.

Balsamic_duck
We just drafted a 186lb shooter that can do absolutely nothing else on the basketball court. We should have traded that pick, i guarantee you we could have gotten someone better

Macintosh504
is this kid even gonna play under Willie? I’m only annoyed because you have a consensus top 5 guy in Whitmore and an all’s round guy in bufkin in your lap.

Balsamic_duck
I will bet anyone that Ben Sheppard who the pacers just took at 26 will be better than hawkins. Similar players but sheppard is superior at playing basketball and just went 26

Balsamic_duck
The pelicans have pretty clearly has a bottom 5 draft night. I honestly don’t know who you could argue had worse? We drafted safe at 14 and then were too pussy to make any moves in the late 1st/ early 2nd. Remember when griff said at the end of the year he was glad it ended the way it did because it showed we couldn’t be complacent. Then he just turns around, drafts safe at 14 and leaves hardly any room for improvement in the offseason. Yeah… big changes griff. You really shocked the world

Could've quoted much more, those were just some highlights from the draft thread, much less all the other threads at the time.

People were in love with Whitmore and Dick. Whitmore especially. They are averaging 2.6 and 3.6 ppg respectively and haven't made as many 3's combined as Hawkins did last night alone.

What’s insane to me is that for 5 years we have said that all Zion needs to be dominant is shooters around him

How can drafting a shooter possibly be a bad thing?

The crazy thing to me about that night was that all the mocks had picked us selecting Hawkins, because we needed shooting.

So, we did the obvious thing and picked the guy who everyone thought we would take ... and that caused lots of people to melt.

Calm down, we do this in some form every year. I've eaten crow plenty of times on here, the main being my Jaxson Hayes love.

Lol Gotchya. Jaxson always concerned me due to his rebounding numbers. But my god never thought his iq would be that low.

It's not like Pels chose him 2nd pick overall. He clearly fit what was needed.

Didn't understand the drama over a 14th pick

Why the duck does it matter where he's picked as long as he's the pick and the correct pick. The frick is wrong with you.

There was a good Hawkins summer league thread that got whacked because it went off the rails. I remember a lot of hottakes in that one too.

I'm sorry. If he weren't on the Lakers I'd still be rooting for him. He's only 23 and just needs minutes

We can still be friends, best of friends and root against him together now that he's a Laker

I didn’t really come on the board much in the offseason but I watched him at UConn and I liked the pick
