Would it be considered a success by Adam Silver and the NBA?

And would they consider doing it again next year? Or does it get the 1-year axe?

It is already a massive success and will continue

I really don’t think there’s any argument otherwise

I for one want the Pelicans to lose in the finals. I think a fire lit under us would be a good thing

There's no reason not to keep it.

Obviously it was structured to get a LAL vs Boston match up.

Interestingly enough, nba on Sirius Frank Isola and Brian scalabrini joked this am about whether or not Silver would consider it a success if the finale ended up being N.O. vs Indiana.

Winning it would light more of a fire

There is roughly a 1000% chance it comes back next season

A win would be more motivation than a loss.

Idk man. I’m a big believer in adversity and I think a loss in the final is the exact kind of thing this team would respond extremely well to

500k is enough motivation for them

The bigger question is do we hang a banner up for an in season tournament title

I think a win would change the mindset from also ran to a contender expecting to win.

Extra 500k for every player. Maybe zion and Ingram don't care personally, but playing for their locker room dudes matter.

But the wins still count. So don't care.

You didn't go to banner night last Wednesday night vs the 76ers?

Group B Western Division Champions. The banner dropped from the rafters to the floor. It looked like a damn scroll used in the Middle Ages

Fair also. Idk in my experience in seasons if you get a big win that had its own separate place in your mind, and a lot of effort was put into that, it can be really easy to subconsciously start undervaluing other games

I just don’t want us to fall into that trap

The weird courts and uniforms made people in sports bars do double takes as to what was going on

The uniforms will make plenty of extra merch money

The format is so confusing and sort of dumb that it created a lot of buzz and headlines just for existing and being confusing

So I think overall it’s successful and will continue

I will say this, the environment in this Bucks-Knicks game is not even close to the environment in Indiana or Sacramento yesterday

I think the IST has done a great job of making mid season games matter for teams and fans with limited to no playoff experience, but I’m not sure it’s had as much impact as desired with perennial playoff teams and their fanbases

Think I read somewhere...that the 2-way players only get 1/2 a "share" each...but I imagine an extra $250K would be a nice little bonus... for any 2-way Pelican player.
