If BI or Trey miss any time, Dyson should get those minutes

One Preseason game overreaction hot takes:
Its very clear that Naji and Temple are just net negatives as players. Temple was HORRENDOUS last year and if you listen to advanced stats, he single handedly cost us several games. Willie's biggest flaw in a stellar season last year was playing Temple way way too much when it was clear he was killing us.
Naji is a good team guy and when he's not going full Tyreke, can at least be somewhat ok defensively. But he goes full Tyreke too often, was -17 last night at some point, and really doesn't have a long future with the team (imo).
Dyson Daniels clearly has natural gifts defensively, with ball handling, and passing that those guys will never be able to match. His future position is PG imo, but for now he could easily play SF/Point Forward.
His shot isn't close to ready, and he will make rookie mistakes. But I'd rather him get experience, and I truly don't think he will hurt us too much because of how good defensively he can be.
Let's hope both BI and Trey are fine all year and we don't have to worry about it. But people get nicked up and miss games here and there. And I think Dyson will be our best option.

Temple is hot garbage and the most overpaid guy in the NBA (based on play alone).
Naj is good as a burst of energy as a 11th-12th man, but if we have to rely on him, we're screwed.
So yes I'd rather take bumps with a rookie than rely on either

Temple is our coach on the bench. Actually cam in 2nd in the GM poll for "Which active player would be a great head coach"
Naji is a great locker room guy who everyone seems to love.
Neither should ever see the floor unless we're up by 30 or down by 30.
Theyre the 14th and 15th guys on the roster
Im playing kira over them just so i can see if he has anything to show

It will be interesting to see how Willie handles Dyson. He was a little stubborn with Trey during the year as well. He trusted him at the end of the season when he was playing his best, but it took some time.

I hope we don't even have to find out, but I expect it would be the same thing this year.

Do I need to go through the stats for top 10 players and the expectation for them as far as games and minutes go yet again?
last year Bouknight was the only top 10 player that didn't get good minutes last year. only played in 31 games averaging 10mpg.
and before anyone says but but but we're a deep playoff team now so it's hard to get minutes,
Kuminga played in 70 games averaging 17mpg. Moody played in 52 games at 12mpg.
If you are good enough to play, you are going to play, simple as that, and teams generally all will give their rookies a shot to see minutes and improve, unless they simply aren't any good at all.
Regardless of injuries, i expect to see Dyson play in 50+ games, and get around 12-15mpg in them. Yes he's going to get some DNP's, but he'll get some stretches this year where he'll play a bunch of games, then take a few games off to watch and observe.
Trey played in 62 games at 14mpg, and i think the reason he didn't play more was b/c he had a hard time catching up on the defensive side of the ball. Dyson is ready to play good NBA level individual and team defense right now.

Dyson has actually been a “pro” basketball player for as long as TM3. I think that matters. Also TM3 was not that level of defender on day 1. You know who was? Herb. Who played a lot starting on day 1? Herb. If he plays defensively like he did last night (which we expect he can) then I see him grabbing some of Jose’s minutes.

A lot of people are going to try and compare how Willie treated Trey to how he will treat DD and what some dont remember is Trey was kept off the court because of his defense. DD does not have these issues. As long as he understands his rookie lane per say, I dont think Willie will have a hard time giving him minutes.

GOP's current Pels PG rankings:
1. CJ
2. Jose
3. Dyson
4. Graham
5. Kira
Yes, I know that Graham had 21 points last night. I think that Dyson is already better.
Of course, there will be a lot of lineups where two of these guys play together.

I think what can get Dyson on the floor is position and lineup versatility. He can play and defend 1-3, is an excellent defender already, and can connect scorers. He can't be on the floor with two other non-shooters/scorers, but he can be in a variety of lineups and positions. That gets you on the floor.

The thing Dyson should increasingly have in his favor is he is the more natural fit(besides Herb) next to all the other point guards on the roster.
Seeing as we have mostly, outside of Dyson, smaller(in the case of Jose) or offensive focused guys that do well off the ball/need defensive assistance. Dyson balances the back court better than anyone not named Herb. Where CJ/Jose/Graham/Kira lack length, Dyson balances the scales. Where Graham/CJ do well off the ball, Dyson gives you a solid floor general with great passing.

Herb played immediately. We don’t see the practices, Trey probably wasn’t ready

That's literally what the team has said.
Willie is big on defensive awareness/aptitude and that is where Trey struggled a lot. Slow on rotations and out of position.
Dyson does not appear to have many of those issues.

I honestly think Dyson is a good fit next to CJ. Herb comes out, Dyson comes in, he can give you some of Herb's defense, but allows CJ to play more offball. Same with Graham and Dyson.

Yep
The only one that is a little imbalanced is Jose/Dyson due to the lack of shooting
But that too is one where you can contrast those two with 3 other scorers. Having frustrating back court defense and then two of Zion/Bi/Trey out there to beat up a second unit and hit open shots.

Daniels can be a positive on defense right now in an NBA game. Will need a year attending the Vinson Academy of Shooting to get real minutes on a good team like the Pels. Love his future though.

And that would be all we need. Just don't be a MASSIVE negative like Temple would be

And the funny thing is, deep into those playoff games, I was more confident that Jose’s shot was going in than anyones.

If Naji is our 11-12th man you’d have him over:
Graham/ DD-11th
Billy- 12th
Kira- 13th
The only player he is better than is Temple and we already know he should be a coach and not on an NBA roster.
Naji shouldn’t be on the team if we are talking about both abilities and potential.

I still don’t understand why Temple played. “Not Ready” TM couldn’t be any worse than Temple plus you had to realize that every min TM played that he would be improving.
