I was referring to CJ and BI. Because we allegedly have 3 stars.

Did I miss a prior championship run from this roster?

Since the CJ trade, the Pelicans are exactly 44-44 in the regular season and are 0-1 in playoff series. The truth is if Paul George doesn’t get covid, everyone would feel very differently right now about a team that’s never been to the playoffs.

Dame and CJ consistently anchored a 4-6 seed western conference team. Ingram and CJ should do likewise for the pelicans. And if they aren’t, a rethink may be in order.

If we don't make the playoffs or get killed in the first round again...

CJ, Jonas, BI and everyone not named Zion needs to be on the block. You give it one more go with Zion and hope you get it right.

If you get it wrong or Zion cannot stay healthy again...its rebuild time.

Again.

Seven firsts??? Why?

BI is better than Bridges. So you’re paying 7 firsts for Claxton?
Yea, that's my bad. I was thinking of the Nets turning down 4 1sts for Bridges but didn't factor in thzg we'd supplement a few of those with BI in the hypothetical

Mikal is on a 4 year deal at 21m

Nic is on a 2 year deal @ 8.5 but I see him signing an extension in the 20m range.

Both are very affordable.
That's a decent bit more than BI, and we're already up against the tax, so not sure it's that easy?

I've said this from the get go, and i love BI.
but if we can't compete for a championship with BI and Zion, then 1 or both of them aren't as good as we think they are
Certainly true but due to rosters and Zion injuries, this is basically year 1 of them together where you think they have a chance to compete.

And the crushing thing about that is we're likely to punt on it again this season, so we'll go to year 5 of Zion still not knowing what we have with them... when healthy.

Next season is basically everything.

It would be very easy as Jonas would expire when Claxton’s extension hits, so the extra money paid to Clax over Jonas contract would actually be saving us around 10 million a year over Ingram’s new max deal.

One I proposed the other day is BI, Herb, Jose, Jonas for Bridges, Clax, DFS and 2023 1st. We would have to take back a little but more salary to balance out the money (like Party Mills), but I would definitely pull the trigger on it.

Ingram is a 42% 3pt shooter

Derozan shoots 31%.

What a horrible comp

He shoots four 3s a game. Taytum shoots 9 and Brown 7.6.

Ingram is in between DeRozan and those guys. He needs to shoot more 3s.

except the literal first thing I am doing this offseason is trading Jonas.

He has to go

But the guy is reliable to get on the court which is a massive void right now.

But as of now, Richardson deserves those minutes over Herb and Trey.

I’m fine with more minutes, and maybe it’s more of a rotation critique, but Richardson has proven over the years he’s at his best and most helpful off the bench.

And Trey has proven he’s not really great when he is trying to fill that spark role. But his spacing is helpful in the starting lineup with Herb’s negative offenses. And last night in particular I would have preferred a two towers approach instead of going small.

To me Richardson is the quintessential 7th man. And putting him in the starting lineup is subtraction by addition imo.

The sad thing is that we still don't have a roster that fits together cohesively.

Griff is doing a pretty good job of collecting assets but it's mishmashed and doesn't fit.

I'd put everyone but Zion out there and just see what kind of market they have. No one else is off the table at this point.

If we were somehow able to swing BI for Nic and Mik our starting day roster would be:

Nic (PnR Big / Rim Prot)
Zion (Generational Talent)
Mik (The Wing we thought Herb would be)
CJ (Back in his natural off the ball role / Robin)
Dyson (Our best Natural Pass First PG)

Bench

Trey
Larry
Jose
EJ
Herb
Naji

Plus draft picks

Not bad at all imo.

Normally when you trade someone of Ingram's caliber you don't get good value back. The reason I'm even open to it is because I think you could not only get good value, you might get a better fit with more of a 2 way player.

That's kind of the point of the thread. If BI's offense doesn't keep you afloat, would you be better off with Brown or Bridges and Claxton, or maybe even finding a way to talk OKC out of SGA?

I just don't know how much value BI has right now. I'm not sure he could swing any of those guys.

We're not the only people that saw him miss half the season with a hurt toe.

Trading BI would be a mistake. I understand that Zion is the heart of the team, but if he’s going to play half a season every year, why would you trade the guy who actually plays?

Even if we had Giannis, Zion is still hurt.

He doesn't actually play that much either.

He missed two months with a toe.

On top of all this, Willie has to change. Someone has to get through to him.

The guy is obsessed with playing journeyman vets over more talented younger players, and DESPISES offense and spacing.

There has to be a balance.

Apparently there are rumblings he doesnt have complete control of the team let alone his staff.

Which would explain a few things.
