How worthless are the Pels picks?

I've been trying to figure out how the Pels could become facilitators in deals for #3 or #4. Nothing overly ambitious, just helping to pay the freight for a team like Detroit or Indy moving up with the Pels getting a center swap from teams that normally have no reason to trade their modern center for our highly skilled dinosaur.

The problem is we'd need to turn those picks into a good player, like we did with the CJ trade. I just don't see any deals like that to be had where Kira/Temple/Billy + 2 1sts gets you someone that Portland or Houston are looking for.

Not that I have a problem using the pick, but are we "stuck" drafting at 14? It feels like we are.

I wouldn't expect anything right now. We can't take on salary. Probably don't want to give up assets to move salary either.

I think it’s surprisingly likely that we draft someone. And that’s ok.

An off the wall thought could be us trading our pick for a first in the future. I don’t expect this, but could be a way to kick the can down the road and keep our “asset”.

Right

The reason we could get CJ for a fairly low price is his age. Not saying he's old, but just pointing out.

Meaning, if you wanted a similarly skilled player but at 23 or 25 years old, you're going to pay decidedly more.

So you only have 2 choices, if you want the younger guy, you pay more or use the same trade chips for a lesser player...or...you use the same trade chips and get a similar skilled player around 30 years old, but that means he'll come at an expensive price tag that we can't afford.

So ultimately, my main point is we really can't afford a mid to high priced upgrade IMO.

Stuck, again, if the only option were a big splash. It's not stuck if we're using it to settle on smaller salaried but still important pieces.

I think you guys are setting yourselves up for disappointment this offseason. We're not going to be making many moves. 1) Because we really can't and 2) For better or for worse, the FO believes this current team at full health can win a title.

there's no way we are moving up to #4.

If you're targeting guys like Black, Dick, Wallace at 14, and they aren't available when we pick, i would consider trading 14 to Brooklyn for 20 and 21, assuming we can get Lively at one of those picks.

We should have taken a big last year at 8. That is now painfully obvious. Think they are stuck at 14. Just take the best big or shooter.

I didn’t expect Larry Nance and JV to regress so much. Larry gets a pass because he played hurt. We needed a PG facilitator and defender, in which I was happy we drafted Dyson Daniels. Especially seeing how CP3 fricking went perfect against us that one game. Just need to be patient with him. He was a great finisher and facilitator in the G-League.

I also didn’t expect Duren and Kessler to be that great either. The other guy who I wanted besides DD was Sochan. But it’s still too soon to tell.

We also can get a big this year, at 14 for sure and maybe even trading back like Teddy suggested to 20 and 21. Lively and James Nnaji both look like the types of center we'd be interested in and one or both may be there at 20.

I think he'll go higher than 20 due to the lack of bigs . And he'll rise once the workouts start. He's young, raw, and probably won't make an impact early on.

I don't mind taking a big but we have to be content with the real possibility of a guy like that barely getting playing time in his rookie season.

There’s a few centers with upside projected to go late first round. I wouldn’t trading back and getting some additional picks but only if we use those picks to upgrade the roster.

Ideally we trade back and still get someone live Lively from Duke, and use whatever we received in the trade back to get front Court depth.

I hope we can get a big and a spark plug guy off the bench. Seeing guys like Bruce Brown, Brogdon, Strus, Rui/Walker off the bench has made me envious. I mean Murphy can be that guy, but he needs to demand the ball more.

Bruce Brown has become a top notch bench player since Nuggets started letting him run the point off the bench. Would love to get him but I doubt the nuggets let him walk

We should get as much 3 point shooting as we possibly can. It doesn’t matter the position.

At 14 in this draft that's incredibly top-heavy even after Wemby, you take BPA and hope for the best. Hopefully it's someone who can shoot.

I wouldn't say JV and larry regressed. Larry was hurt and was fricking awesome in the beginning of the year and Willie completely mismanaged JV so his strengths were minimized and his weaknesses were amplified

If we aren’t picking 1.1, we draft better outside the top 10 anyway. This FO hasn’t been able to nail a pick of consequence otherwise

I can't imagine a universe where Griffin and Co aren't desperately trying to move this pick, future picks, and multiple players to upgrade with vets.

I have to think this offseason is a bit of desperation mode for them
