He still doesn’t look as explosive to me. I know Nelson and crew probably want him to be less explosive to decrease injury risk but that’s 70% as to why he’s so good.

The ground game developmental plan is better for him.

He looks great playing more on the wing, bringing the ball up, etc.

You saw some of that last preseason, sets getting him driving to the basket.

The year is 2013, a Bucks fan wants to gauge where Giannis is through 27 games into his career

This board was making rash judgments about Ingram a year ago at this time.

As I said in another thread he is averaging 21/11 through 3 games and there are people fricking MELTING, especially McNamara.

He's doing that and personally I don't think he's playing that well.

Imagine what his stats and impact will be when he is "playing well". Sky is the limit.

(I will say for the sake of argument, that I don't think Zion has as much room for improvement as Giannis did at that time. Giannis was just a super raw freak of nature. Zion is presumably much closer to a finished project, but he has a lot to improve on that could make him the best player in the league)

Define “raw”

Zion’s first form was always gonna be bully ball. Which is effective enough, as we are seeing.

Developing handle, post moves, moving without the ball, jumper etc. A lot to improve on. Things we’ve seen with Blake Griffin, Giannis types

We are going to an entirely new offensive system and we are 3 games in. Uncle Al just freeballed everything. Nobody really looks comfortable offensively right now - even BI is thriving mostly bc he's borderline unstoppable as part of his offensive skillset.

Zion's rebounding and defense are what he needed to work on coming into the season. So far, so good.

Tonight should be a much higher scoring affair - I would suspect we'll see loaded box scores tonight.

This that DBZ shite!

We haven't come close to seeing his final form yet.

i'm curious what systems will closest reach that limit, though

however, if people want to feel better, go look at what more established guys like Ayton and Nurk are doing so far

changing systems/roles can take a while to adjust

He played a little better defensively this past game and has been getting increasingly more active.

He and Adams are dominating the glass. But...spacing has been more of an issue than people on here are saying. He is getting absolutely swarmed around the rim and has gotten swatted more this year than last year. I do think if we had more guys where people respected their shot he would be able to pass out more and have people respect that.

Zion is just almost impossible to compare to NBA players. Honestly the closest comparison athlete wise would be someone like Miles Garret or Jared Cook. Typically athletic freaks like Zion don’t have the “hand-eye/sports awareness” skill needed to play basketball so they trend more to football.

Honestly I think his closest comparison is a taller left-handed Charles Barkley on PEDs. Chuck’s game early on was similar to Zion’s. Very bully ballish until he fine tuned his skills to be a more all around player.

Yep, while he has no true comp, I think young Blake Griffin is the best comp I can come up for with Zion.

They talked about the gravity all last game. He is pulling the bigs to him because he is basically unstoppable one-on-one. This will open the offense.

He has shot 26 fts already and tied for fifth in the league so far. He also shot 22 fts in the 2 preseason games.

It goes back to making open shots. It's going to be the theme of the offense when Zion is on the floor.

he HAS to get better at 3 things

1. handle
2. passing when swarmed
3. FTs. they're pathetic so far

That's not because of spacing. Teams would rather crash 5 guys on Zion to prevent a sure bucket and give up the open shots no matter who is taking them.

The spacing with Adams has been more than fine. He knows how to get out of the way.

If you want to complain about when Melli and/or Hayes comes on the floor, that's a whole host of issues.

They didn’t even want him in a trade to begin with

Including McNamara. Who wasn’t on board until someone leaked that Griffin thought he could be an all star. He didn’t even think hart would get any minutes either.
