Is it obvious to you how annoying of a poster you are or do you have no idea what I’m talking about?

You take anything he says seriously? After all, he only played the game.
That's just 1 in a long list of dudes who played the game who have more bad takes than good when it comes to player evaluation. Shaq and Barkley are 2 more for ya. Not a single person watches Inside the NBA for their nuanced basketball player evaluation.

quote:Bumping this take... Lots of time for it to go back and forth but after this weekend, there is a pretty clear separation from Brunson leading the team to BI being behind Brunson in the pecking order.
Eh, Brunson was just the best player on a team that went to the 2nd round of the playoffs and had a better offensive season than BI ever has, so I'm not sure I buy into him not being on that level.
Fwiw, my reply is less of an indictment on Ingram and more so just thinking we're probably underrating Brunson who is legit

Honestly, lead ball handlers will almost always be more valuable than secondary ball handlers if they are relatively equal in regards to talent.

Lenny Wilkens, and Jerry West say Hello

Again, do you give credence to shite Kendrick Perkins says? Not many do as he's more of a punching bag that most make fun of.

Meh, I’m no psychologist, but that “dawg” may be well- trained for the crucial moments.

quote:Dr J, one of the best players to ever play the game. He's been in the sports news recently, here's a list he made recently:
Yeah, they only played the game …..
5 untouchables/all time best team:
Russell
Wilt
Oscar
West
Baylor
Next group of 5:
Kareem
MJ
Magic
Karl Malone
Tiny Archibald
No Larry Bird, No Lebron, MJ not in his 1st lineup of 5

No one should take that list seriously, it is not a serious list.
Also remember that I said they have biases, note the 1st 5 and the era they played, and hell note the same for the 2nd list. He doesn't have a single player who played prominently in the 2000s and on.

A little context maybe Shel ….Obviously The Doctor made a list giving deference to players who came before him and his contemporaries ….. not a bonehead way to evaluate

Ingram got benched for Austin Reaves today

Posted on 8/20/23 at 1:27 pm to 50_Tiger
Austin Reaves is awesome
It’s complete bullshite that a team like Houston, San Antonio, Detroit or the Magic didn’t throw him a max and at least make the Lakers match it.
But yeah, Ingram was glued to the bench. Hali, Reaves, Edwards were the hot hands and the other guys they put out there had enough bulk to defend and rebound.

Ingram is just not that valuable in the role that he is currently in for team USA . Reaves or Cam johnson are better fits . Wish they would let ingram create more and be who he is , but Edwards seems to be the guy , and when it’s not Brunson or haliburton are the creators . If they keep ingram in that role going forward It wouldn’t surprise me if he keeps losing minutes

I hate to say it, but pretty sure Ingram tweaked something in the game. He wasn’t moving around very well, and then was the only guy on the bench that never stood up through the fourth quarter. Kerr definitely stuck with the guys that were playing well, but something wasn’t right today with BI. He’s been really solid for USA up to this point.

quote:Just had another example...with Barkley on the Bill Simmons podcast.
Yeah, they only played the game …..
Barkley flat out said Steph Curry wouldn't have been able to play in his generation, late 80s/early 90s. Barkley said the Bad Boy Pistons would have broken him.
5'6" 133lbs Spud Webb played in that era, did not get broken by the Bad Boy Pistons.
5'3" 136 lbs Muggsy Bogues played in that era, did not get broken by the Bad Boy Pistons.
But the greatest shooter the NBA has ever seen and I believe the most efficient scoring wing player in the history of the NBA at 6'2" 185lbs...Steph Curry just couldn't have hacked it.
Should we really take that opinion seriously because Barkley played the game?

Both Webb and Bogues were incredible athletes and jacked. Webb had a tremendous vertical (hence the slam dunk contest). I think Bogues was a pretty accomplished wrestler.
You have to be really special to make it into the NBA under 6'0. None of them are going to be jokes and are going to be way better athletes and stronger/tougher than bigger players..

Barkley was clearly talking Shite and is more entertainer than analyst. An example of evaluations is Jordan ranking Magic above Steph as alltime PG. He defined what a point guard does and in that players context, although annoying 70% of current fans who prefer Steph, made a valid argument in terms of impact who was better.

quote:That was not clear at all, he meant that, just like all the other "my era/players were better than today's era/players" he said in that interview.

If you listen to the interview, he did 5 or 6 comparisons from players or eras, and every single one of them he sided with his era.
Do you think that's just a random coincidence?

No, that’s clearly talking shite …lol that he wraps in an entertaining package. The actual NBA operations are littered more with Joe Dumar’s and Kiki Vandeweigh’s than Charles in charge.
