I'll be in the SKC tonight, and I am expecting him to either get slightly longer bursts (5 minutes?) or to get another burst or two.

And I would guess that he will come off the bench. He really had to start the debut for PR reasons.

They've proven time and time they're putting health above anything else..

You saying they're goal should not be on being the 8th seed is where you are wrong. You're essentially saying they should tank. After all the work BI,Ball,Hart,NAW,Hayes etc have put in this season, you're essentially telling these guys you don't believe in them if you say "Oh Well can't play Zion 30 minutes, might as well pack it in and forget the playoffs"

I’m not an orthopedic surgeon, but if meniscus surgery has actually healed, I would think he’s good to go.

It may be awkward now to have him come off the bench.

They don't want to throw the number 1 overall pick, and most hyped play since lebron into the game in crunch time?

I understand the minutes restriction part, but they should work the minutes so that he could be in at the end of the game

Had we put him back in with 3:00 or so to go, and we win that game because of him, that would have went in the record books as an all time great 1st game.

If that's the case, then it's hurting the team. Which is way worse imo

Just let him get acclimated in 5-on-5 if that's whats going on.

This is actually flawed logic.... You're viewing the season in terms of winning one game at a time, which is a great mindset as a coach or a player.

The goal is to win as many games this season as possible. If bringing him back this way causes us -2 net wins over the course of the next 2 weeks but +4 wins over the course of the season its a +4 EV decision. It's not hurting the team in the scope of the season to get our elite talented Rookie integrated with the team as soon as possible.

As far as the 4 minute bursts, from the biomechanical standpoint your biomechanical flaws tend to be exaggerated at the point of fatigue. The staff clearly doesn't feel he is conditioned enough to make it past 4 minutes before slipping into those bad movement patterns, and greatly exaggerating the chance of reinjury.

The 4 minute bursts thing doesn’t work with him as a starter imo.

Bring him off the bench but have him playing at times with various starters. Integrate him in.

When he can play 25+ then get him in the starting lineup.
I agree, but I think they felt like they were in a situation where they "had" to start him because everyone was there to see him.

I don’t see him breaking through the 16-18 minute barrier until next week

No. No. Then why play any games until you think you can win it all? Playing a long 82 game season is culminated by being able to make the playoffs.

Teams are gauged and graded and judged by being a playoff team. If we get in as an eight seed, we are still in. Anything can happen from there. Wins, playoff appearances and pride are what makes fans want to pay money for tickets and spend time and effort on having a team.

It's more about trajectory

The Pels making the playoffs would be great, but it can't be the end point, like it was for the last two Pels playoff teams. Cashing in real chips for a short term playoff run is foolish with this team.

Coming up short of the playoffs would be disappointing, but seeing Zion and Ingram begin to mesh would be a successful end to the season. Selling off players for better lottery odds is also foolish.
