Whether you believe it or not, that's what the rumors were at the time, and knowing how cheap Sarver is, I believe it because you know he didn't want to pay that 4th year.

Do you have links to these rumors?

I don't ever recall them being discussed on Pels Talk.

Rumors have come out since then that CP3 was taking the Pels offer, right up until Phoenix put the 4th year on the table. That could have had alot to do with them trying to clear that space as quick as possible

If you believe that, I have some pristine ocean front property to sell you in Iowa lol.

If anything, just sounds like CP3’s agent did his job. Used a desperate team/man to get his client more money…..

From two dudes you talked to at the bar one night? There was no serious report from anybody credible.

It was literally reported by Windhorst....
quote:

And Chris Paul, who [the Pelicans] offered $100 million from what I understand," Windhorst said. "It helped convince Phoenix to give him at least [a] partially guaranteed fourth year. ... I think Chris entertained it for some period of time.

This thread is mostly fruitless back and forth of extreme points of view.

lol. To be fair, isn't that most threads?

Only thing I'll add to what you wrote is that every GM/FO has misses. Giving yourself enough options to increase your margin of error so you recognize and fix those mistakes is a large part of the job.
