I’m not convinced he’d even get minutes on a good team

Guess we’ll see

Nah, he would find minutes for a lot of teams.

No reason he couldn’t fill the Deni Avdija role in Washington, or take Bertrans minutes who continues to not be able to do the one thing he was paid to do. Find minutes on the Lakers or Clippers, I actually struggle to find teams he wouldn’t find minutes for. Every team can use a guy that plays smart and can harass an opposing teams best players for 10+ minutes a game and has solid developmental upside still.

I mean technically it is minutes. Now if you're saying are we looking to start a 7th/8th man, the answer is probably yes, whether you're talking about Herb or Hart. But if Herb's offense remains passable then his fit is needed. Ingram is playing better on defense this season but you still have no legit lead defenders in the starting lineup which is why you have Herb or Hart looking like one of the permanent starters.

Hopefully with a few more years of development Trey can take on that role and be a rich man's Ariza.

They’re “alternative minutes”.

Yeah but I can see the hesitation. A guy who didn't develop a resemblance of a shot in college, however plays elite defense.

Very limited upside and you'd have to convince yourself he can learn to all of a sudden shoot

and time itself is an artificial construct. What if we are actually aging backwards?

Dudes like Gary Payton Jr, Juan Toscano Anderson, Jevon Carter, Derrick Jones Jr, and some dude named Ayo Dosunmu are getting minutes on 3 of the best teams in the NBA right now.

I fail to see why Herb couldn't the minutes of those dudes on those teams too.

I think he would. Sometimes you can just tell when a player can play. Herb can play. He’s just a positive player.

Old with limited upside.
He has 3&D written all over him, won't ever be more.

However that's the kind of players we need to find.

I'd say that he already is more. Garrett Temple is a 3&D guy. Trey Murphy is a 3&D guy.

Herb is making plays. He's hustling. He's becoming the glue that's holding lineups together. Even if his main role is to play D and shoot 3s...I dunno. Just saying he's 3&D doesn't capture the essence of his impact.

He is the real deal and much more than a role player

So excited for this kid

Every year there's a steal in the second round. We got it this time

horrible take. He has all the making of a future Iggy type piece for a championship team. Obviously I’m not saying he will be get there, but he has the potential to get to that level of impact.

Go to YouTube and rewatch his last game highlights. The form on his shot looks much smoother than it did when he got here and he looks way more fluid than I remembered him looking.

Majority on this board were pissed we picked him and thought he should have went later lol.

what?
can you provide some proof of that?

First of all, getting pissed at who we took for the 2nd round pick is dumb, considering we don't even like making 2nd round picks. You should be thrilled we even took a chance on someone given our moronic history with 2nd round picks.

Secondly, i thought i remember most people wanting to pick him in the 2nd round. I know I did.

You're much more likely to find a contributor in the 2nd round from the senior class, not freshman class like Frank and Diallo, and that's been documented many times.
