Healthy Roster - 2nd round playoff team tops

This team regressed from being a fringe playoff team losing in the first round to a team not even making the playoffs. Why do Griff and Green think the roster even if healthy could make it past the 2nd round. Teams will lock down our 6’6” power forward who doesn’t really shoot 3s. We literally had a 10 game losing streak that it horrible.

We would have been the favorite in the West if we didn't have soft as baby shite superstars who take months to recover from two week injuries.

I'm calling bullshite. You're being a prisoner of the moment here. At the end of the year, this was reality:
CJ: requires surgery for injury he played with half the season
Nance: bad shoulder that may require surgery
Jose: out - stress reaction
Zion: out - don't wanna talk about it
-1 All-star
-1 key bench cog and "Rising Star"
Top 3 starter playing through thumb injury
First big off the bench hobbled
It's like you forget we were literally in 1st place when the injury bug hit us.

Why do they think that? Cuz we were #1 in the west when we were healthy.

We brought back the same squad(not counting Zion) and were about the same, maybe slightly better, without Zion, which is probably to be expected.

Tell me you didn't watch Pels games in the last 4 years without telling me you didn't watch Pels games in the last 4 years.
Are you really saying Zion is too short to be effective in the NBA. He only takes shots in the paint yet he scores with historic efficiency, and that is with the defense going all in to stop him most of the time. He regularly beats triple to quintuple teams. He also regularly goes toe to toe with tall centers and beats them despite their size advantage.
You should feel bad for this post. It's either a very bad take or a very weak troll. I suppose saying Zion is too short is a nice change of pace from saying he's too fat, so thanks for that at least.

I see what you saying but having the best record and being the best team is not really the same in the west this year. The 2 and 3 seeds are underdogs and no one is picking the one seed to win the conference.

Really, dragging trolls/idiots is the only fun thing about this board right now.

We finished 9th because our two best players missed a combined season of basketball all while multiple role players were out every night. The Pelicans averaged 1 completely new starting 5 every 4 games.
In December, without BI, Zion and the pelicans dominated the league and finished the month atop the western conference standings. Again, this occurred without BI ever sniffing the court.
I can’t say “A fully healthy pelicans roster will be as good as the team you saw in December” because we should be significantly better with BI involved

They have the second highest odds in Vegas next to Milwaukee, so this is false

This is an issue I'm not sure how you solve. Looking around at top teams, it's really good to have 4 high volume, decent or better 3 point shooters. Basically 2 guys with 200+ 3s made and 2 guys a decent amount over 100 3s made.
The Pels have Trey and CJ taking care of the top 2 spots but they're missing that 3rd and 4th volume shooter. Hopefully BI can be your 3rd if Zion is healthy at the same time. But I don't see how you add a 4th into the rotation unless it's the center or a new shooter is taking minutes from Dyson/Jose.
CJ
Herb
BI
Zion
Center
Trey
Jose
Dyson
Larry
And that rotation probably needs to shift some guard/wing minutes to another big so Larry doesn't wear down again.
The 4th shooter kind of needs to be Herb. He doesn't have to shoot 39%, 35% will do as long as the volume is there.

Yeah, when teams double Zion, we get plenty of open 3s. Early in the season, Herb wasn't hitting at a high rate, but that changed as the season went on. BI rarely shoots pull-up 3s, but he's happy to let catch-and-shoot 3s fly. Even Jose improved from 29% two years ago to 34% this past season. If we get better shooting from him, it will help.
The player who we need to upgrade in the rotation with a better shooter is Naji.

Our record should have been worse the warriors tested all there starters against us twice.
Every team had injuries, the older Zion get the harder it will be for him to stay in shape and the less athletic he will become.
The real elite teams in the nba don’t give a crap about the regular season. This team even if healthy would get stomped in the second round.

I don't think there is just one way to win. Yes that is how most teams do it, but no team has a player like Zion (and yes I realize sadly we don't even have a player like Zion that often) and few teams have a mid-range killer like BI. I don't know that we have to shoot as many threes as most teams do. And, again, none of us really know because we only had 10 games with Zion and BI together.

I wouldn’t expect Herb’s more recent offensive output to be reflective of his getting better from the 3 point line. He’s always been incredibly streaky.
Herb’s first year he shot 41.7% from deep in December, never above 34% any other month. This past year he shot 28% from the start of the season through February, then shot 47% through March and April. His last year at Alabama he had the best 3pt% in the SEC all the way through February, then went 0-16 in 8 games in March. It’s a bit of a trend for our boy Herb

the 2 seed is missing their starting center and their backup pf. they are not the same team without them.
the 3 seed won close ones at home. so far so good.
