ESPN Sources: The Hawks are planning a wide-ranging search, but one candidate expected to be at the top of the list: Former Utah Jazz coach Quin Snyder. Others expected to be considered include Bucks assistant Charles Lee, Golden State assistant Kenny Atkinson

Hawks are at a massive crossroads. What do you do with Young?

Stupid question. You build around him.

not exactly, they've tried to build around him and accumulated lots of pieces that should complement him.
For the talk of him being a star, he's just a volume guy.
Would you believe if I told you, he's been above:
45% FG once in his career (last year)
36% 3PT twice in his career (19-20, and last year)
5:2 AST ratio once in his career (this year)
25 PER once in his career (last year)
He's a plus offensive player, but his defense is ATROCIOUS. They are underperforming as a team and it starts with him.

The best defensive rating by a 5-man lineup this season (minimum 300 minutes): Trae Young Dejounte Murray De’Andre Hunter John Collins Clint Capela
Can’t be that bad. Top 5 man unit in the league

Does he actually show up to play or is he “hurt” and misses 75% of the games in his career?

Wow I thought he would have won it all with his star player being 6 foot 1

Having just fired McMillan, it seems pretty clear that the Hawks are in on Young.

Snyder would be an interesting choice.
Players generally seem to like him despite his manic tendencies, fits well with Trae's style. Though it sort of just feels like no matter who they get, Trae is the type of ego and personality that is not capable of maintaining long-term relationships with coaches. He's already toxified the locker room twice and pushed out his second coach. Rumors abound he has created rifts with his teammates too.

It's all built around the GS model, with Young supposed to be the next Curry. Schlenk came from there and has been acquiring pieces with that in mind.
Hawks are really loaded and should be good. It just doesn't fit. Coaching/culture change could be the thing that fixes it all. Nobody around here really believes that though. People are just waiting (maybe wanting) for something to happen with Young. A team like OKC could make a godfather type offer for him..
