When you consider players like Chris Paul, Anthony Davis and Zion Williamson have graced this city.

I know it's a team sport and all but that is kind of shocking.

It's really not. It's hard to admit but we were basically a farm team for the big markets. We get to enjoy their development and when they were ready to compete, we flip the switch to rebuild and start the all over again from the bottom.

A mixture of stupid management across multiple regimes and terrible luck.

Bad ownership, mediocre management will do that

Need to convince someone born in La and went to TX that got rich to come back home and make it right.

I don't believe this. Just poor management and decision making, mostly born out of desperation to compete and failing miserably.

During that time period, the Jazz have had 6 50 win seasons and made the playoffs 11 times under 3 different coaches. It's possible to be steady as a small market teams with moments of greatness..

You don't have to believe it. The evidence was there with Shinn in the 2000s. When the Bensons bought the team, they still ran a second rate operation for a long time. They didn't get serious until they hired a legit basketball guy to implement a legitimate operation with proper staffing.

I said the other day, the Bensons haven’t properly invested in the team.
Pelicans are worth more than twice what they paid for, no excuses for why we’ve made the playoffs only twice since they bought the team 11 years ago.

Gayle has no problem doing the bare minimum for the pels, she can still turn a profit despite that.

Money isn't the issue.

Are we pretending that AD was ever healthy here now? The one season he was healthy, Boogie tore his Achilles trying to rebound his missed FT. If he hits that FT, maybe things happen differently. Really makes you wonder if AD was actually injured over here with how miraculously he seems to recover in LA

Not counting the trade request year when we were actively trying to sit him, he averaged 68 games/yr over 6 years. Thats pretty healthy

That's definitely how I'd describe Griff.

Are we still blaming our problems on AD? You realize that when AD was here we had a scouting department of 1?

Who needs a scouting department when you trade all your picks for Omer Asik

You're actually going to need to explain this to me. He's been MUCH MUCH more injured in LA than here. He's only averaging 48 games/yr in LA

Dang, I'm dreaming Zion was as healthy as a guy nicknamed Street Clothes.

I will say that AD had several games every year that he wasn’t able to finish, but those games still count when you look at his stats.

The really sad part is I would be thrilled if Zion played as much as AD did.

Whats even more impressive looking back at it, outside of AD's rookie year when he was basically on a minutes restriction, he was averaging 36 mins/game each season.

Granted he wouldn't have been mega rich by NBA owner standards, but I think we would have been in much better hands if Gary Chouest had bought the team from an ownership involvement perspective.

By no means I'm saying it's a slam dunk(see what I did there?) but he also had kids who I assume would have been likely poised to be a part of it and take over as he aged.
