I'm somewhat disappointed we didn't do a bigger deal, but this shows what the Front Office thinks of Herb, Dyson, and Trey. We won't know until a year or two from now if they're right...but at least there's a plan in place.

What's the plan???

Because like it or not, our success hinges on the health of our two best players and the history hasn't been great.

But when those two are healthy, the Pels are arguably the deepest team in the league. The problem is, they haven't been, so that depth has been exposed. I wasn't asking for a blockbuster deal, but you have all of these assets. Why not make a move to add a Bones Hyland/Mason Plumlee or something like that?

Before the deadline, the Clippers were one of the teams I thought were a dark horse in the west bc PG and Kawhi look like they're back. Now they add to a roster that was already super deep.

It seems like every team in the west made a move to improve, while the Pels made theirs for a salary dump. Makes you wonder how much the ownership actually cares about winning.

I get nobody trusting the health of this team, but we still haven't seen this team at full strength. Where do the minutes come from for most of the players we were clamoring for if the team is at full strength?

Rim protection is the one thing we're missing and we've said from the beginning we're probably going to have to draft or find and develop that kind of player.

The model for any small market team that wants to be consistently playoff relevant in every sport is:

1. Establish culture/vibes
2. Draft, develop, re-sign
3. Fill the gaps with trades

So far we've checked the 1st box. The 2nd box is showing promise. The third box is ongoing but there have been some success stories.

Once #2/#3 sync up it will be glorious and max time to flap.

Bingo

Durant was not coming here.

The only other guy that would have gotten me excited is Bridges . I’m of the belief he wasn’t on the table .

Yep. Duren instead of Dyson and we are set, but that is nit picking. Good chance we can find this in the first round next year, though.

Like Billy Mays said, draft and develop guys. I'll add that Griff likes having the picks in case a no brainer improvement becomes available. I don't think OG was a no brainer where you consider the cost vs the improvement

No doubt. But we also can't really bring in anyone to replace what those 2 give us unless you want to get into the Kyrie business (hard pass) or durant (reports said the Suns were basically the only option for him).

Bones is flashier but I don't think he's necessarily any better than Josh Richardson at this point. We definitely could have upgraded at backup big.

Richardson is better than Graham (better 2 point shooter/defender), so it accomplishes both for the Pels.

Clips/Mavs/Suns/Lakers improved. Grizz marginally improved. Kings/Wolves/Warriors/Blazers/Jazz stayed pretty static or got worse.

Remember we also were told NAW, Jax, and Didi were ready to take the next step. Got in knockdown fights with our staff that they should play more. Only for Willie to draw similar conclusions.

Griff does have a history of overvaluing his guys to the point of detriment.

I think one of the reasons that people are, reasonably, antsy about no roster-improving moves today is because our window could shut on us before we even realized its open if we don't get an extension with BI after next season with him only having 2 more years left on his current deal after this season.

As great as Zion is and still can be, you need more than one all star caliber player to win in the NBA.

But that's the thing right? Who knows if we'll ever truly see them at full strength. So I don't mind the criticism from fans questioning the transparency of players' health. But if that were the case, I'd want to shore up some insurance with quality players for when those guys are out. That way you aren't taxing the role players.

Well Zion will have to stay on the floor are no one will give a damn if he wants out, and if he does stay healthy we will improve and have the flexibility to make the needed moves to compete. But now is not the time to needlessly throw assets away or go into the tax if we don't even know if Zion can stay healthy for a playoff push.

If he's upset maybe he should try playing basketball. We would be a top 4 team if him and BI had been playing

Not upset. Honestly don’t think we were getting out of the West this year. Lets see if we can get healthy and evaluate a healthy roster in the playoffs before we try to improve. Add another 1st rd pick. If we appear to be close, then we make a move next season

And to clarify, we have two all star caliber players now (when they are healthy) and a true alpha at the end of, but still in his prime CJ.

This year and next year are as good a time as any to "go for it".

We had to be told they were ready to be nba rotation players because they hadn't shown that on the court. Trey and Herb definitely have. Dyson was approaching that point and got injured.

This is a good point as well

The only part of fans anger I completely understand is the team ratcheting up season ticket prices and then standing in place when there’s a chance to improve the roster.

If you’re going to ask for more of your customers, they have the right to demand more in return.

This is mainly where my frustration lies I guess.

You have the interest of the entire city and the fanbase is all in. They've trusted the process and then you raise ticket prices? Yet barely do anything to improve the roster? It sends a conflicting message imo.

The moves they wanted to make were not available. You cannot blame them, they tried.

They added a guy that alot of people loved before the trade, and dumped a guy alot of people said we needed to upgrade before the trade, yet everyone is losing their shite because they dis exactly what we wanted?

In the process they also got rid of all our seconds which likely would have just been sold off because we don’t have the roster spots
