you could "run" the Suns defense too when your HC is a defensive guy

Willie doesn't need to set the agenda, he needs to sell the agenda. This is where a meddlesome front office needs to earn it's keep. Get assistants good at schemes that maximize the roster.

Bring in a Brett Brown as Lead and someone Willie is familiar with that’s an X and O guy and let’s roll.

Here's Monty quoted in The Athletic after the Denver series when he was complimented on the Suns defensive approach:

quote:

Suns coach Monty Williams was quick to give the bulk of the credit for their defensive success to assistant coach Willie Green, Phoenix’s defensive coordinator, for their schemes and game plan in each series.

“Willie Green has led that charge,” Williams said. “He’s run the defense all season long.”

Obviously, Monty is a defensive coach himself, so of course he still has ultimate control, but my earlier point remains that Green is coming to us as a defensive coach, which I believe is important.

It also means that our lead assistant should be a solid offensive mind.

The Suns' lead assistant has directed their defense that's second in the postseason in defensive rating. The second-seeded Suns limited the Los Angeles Clippers to 41.8% shooting from the field (12-of-39 from 3) in Wednesday's 130-103 Game 6 closeout victory in the Western Conference finals to reach the NBA Finals.

Lester I’m with you except it seems pretty obvious that guys in the NBA will play harder for a coach they like

Especially an ex-player

So its “possible” what we may lack in traditional X’s and O’s — may be made up for a bit with hustle and energy

We’ve all seen the difference between when NBA players “try” - and when they fricking don’t

Of Phoenix's top 8 players:
DBPM
Bridges: +0.8
Booker: - 1.5
CP3: +1.3
Ayton: 0.0
Crowder: +0.7
Cam Johnson: -0.6
Payne: +0.9
Saric: -0.8

that tells me one thing, they bought in

Its a legit question, I don't care about sexual status but he has no wife or gf.

But I think it would be a sub-par hire at best. Not the worst like the SVG hire.
